 Elfen Lied
Plot Summary: The Diclonius, a mutated homo sapien that is said to be selected by God and will eventually become the destruction of mankind, possesses two horns in their heads, and has a "sixth sense" which gives it telekinetic abilities. Due to this dangerous power, they have been captured and isolated in laboratories by the government. Lucy, a young and psychotic Diclonius, manages to break free of her confines and brutally murder most of the guards in the laboratory, only to get shot in the head as she makes her escape. She survives and manages to drift along to a beach, where two teenagers named Kouta and Yuka discovers her. Having lost her memories, she was named after the only thing that she can now say, "Nyuu," and the two allow her to stay at Kouta's home. However, it appears that the evil "Lucy" is not dead just yet...    ( ANN)
Continuing my adventures through anime, I watched Elfen Lied.  At first glance you may think this might be like a harem show,

like me, but, it's not.  Elfen Lied is a horror anime with some harem thrown in.  In every episode you see blood, and lots of it.  People are getting cut in half, body parts cut off, it's nuts.  During episode 8 there is a part during one of Lucy's flashbacks when kids at her orphanage kill her dog.  It's really fucked up.  They just keep beating it and beating it till it's dead.  This show is defiantly not for kids what so ever.
You could say this show kinda has a split storyline.  One half deals with the Diclonius lab.  They are conducting experiments with the other Diclonius and all that junk.  And the other half deals with Kouta living his life.  Slowy they start merging together.   You find out that Kouta actually knew Lucy when she was little but, Kouta doesn't remember a thing till near the end of the series and shit goes down near the end.  From what I've heard, the anime ends differently then the manga but, this is usual for anime shows the end before the manga.
Like I said, this show is gory.
Like I said, this show is gory.
Overall I really enjoyed this show, more then I thought I would.  I guess I liked to super gory stuff.  The story is pretty interesting but, it goes even further in the manga from what I understand.  Lucy is probably the best character of the show.  You get to see her cute side and get to see her dark and twisted side.
My Score - 4.5/5
