Marley
& Me
may be the most popular film in the world outside of America for the
moment, but Dragonball
Evolution
premiered
only in Asian markets last week-- eight of 'em. It made back 10% of
its $100 million budget, about, picking up $10.1 million through over
2,000 screens, making it the #4 international movie. (Watchmen
and Gran Torino
are numbers two and three, if you're curious.)
Of the eight markets, DBE was #1 in five of them: China, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Note that Japan isn't in that list. That said, one of the film's probable big draws-- Chow Yun Fat –is already moving along. He's moving from Master Roshi to philosophy master Confucius. Huh.
