Marley & Me may be the most popular film in the world outside of America for the moment, but Dragonball Evolution premiered only in Asian markets last week-- eight of 'em. It made back 10% of its $100 million budget, about, picking up $10.1 million through over 2,000 screens, making it the #4 international movie. (Watchmen and Gran Torino are numbers two and three, if you're curious.)

Of the eight markets, DBE was #1 in five of them: China, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Note that Japan isn't in that list. That said, one of the film's probable big draws-- Chow Yun Fat –is already moving along. He's moving from Master Roshi to philosophy master Confucius. Huh.

(face palms) I don't want to think of how the movie is such a train wreck and how much people in the U.S. will flock to see the movie, to just say that they saw the movie, and it suck period.

Of course Chow Yuan Fat is going to be Confucius in his next movie, with the way he pulled off Roshi in DB, that's just asking for it.

This "flop-on-arrival" will be lucky to make $10 million in its first US weekend.
