FANS ARE CLOSED MINDED BECAUSE IT'S NOT 100% WHAT IS SHOWN ON TV. THAT IS ALL. NOT THE MOVIES FAULT, IF IT WAS ANY OTHER FILM THAT WASN'T DB PEOPLE WOULD GO SEE IT.

“My hair isn’t all blue in the film and Justin Chatwin’s hair isn’t 10-feet high, so I think everything changes a bit or gets lost in translation, so I hope that [the fans are] pleased,” Rossum offers. “I think the core of what it it and the core of the story and the core of the characters is the same.”

O.o; Those aren't the reasons fans are protesting to the movie. Based on reviews from people who've seen it in other countries, FOX's adaptation of the film really deviates from the core of the story and the characters. In short, FOX doesn't understand the Dragonball story universe and why fans enjoy it. Which causes the movie to be CRAP.
Generally, if a trailer looks good, people will see the film. If the trailer looks terrible... well, you get the idea. Not to mention, if people hate the movie concept, then you have to work really hard to convince them that they should see the movie, and there hasn't been anything like that in North America.

I just looked through some forums and people say that the American version would be 100 mins while the current version is only 86 mins. The ratings online for those that actual wet and see it is that it wasn't bad and they want a sequel.

"On-topic: Maybe I'll rent it or watch it when it hits some lower-tier cable network at 2AM for lolz. I'm curious as to how they can distill a 40-episode story arc (with 10 episodes of training and 20 episodes of yelling, bulging muscles and pulling new superpowers out of asses) into almost 85 minutes of action.
"
You do know this movie was trying to be a Dragon Ball movie right? so without the Z and all the sh!t that came with it just Dragon Ball lol

I do have a friend who saw the first 20 minutes. Said it wasn't as mind-numbing as the Chun Li movie, so at least it has that going for it.

So, uh, how about that Dragonball Kai?

I liked it when I watched it YouTube. In the same way I enjoy the original Street Fighter movie.

I saw the leak of it, and I must say that I was surprised. It was missing a lot of stuff, as it wasn't the final version, but I have to say that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (then again, I was expecting meteors to hit the Earth upon watching it). I am hesitant to admit that I chuckled a few times, and was slightly impressed by the special effects.

I'm going to go see it in theaters, opening weekend, but that's also because I'm intending to review it (for another site). Anyway, films can be horribly mis-marketed, either through spoilers being slipped in the trailers, the trailer using footage to make the movie look like something it's not (I haven't seen The International yet, but from what I understand the movie is supposed to be more of a suspense thriller, but the trailer makes it look like a Bond/Bourne style action movie).

Unless a film is something where, looking at it right off the bat, I can tell I won't like it (Will Farrell movie, Amnesia comedy, one of those throw-a-bunch-of-popular-movies-at-the-wall-and-hope-they-stick comedies like Epic Movie). I'm willing to have faith that a movie isn't total crap. This doesn't mean I'll see everything in theaters. But I'm willing to have an open mind.

To put it it another way. I intended to watch The Matrix Reloaded opening weekend, but I got to the theater late for my showing, and it would be another hour for the next showing - but the remake of The Italian Job was scheduled to start before that, so I saw The Italian Job instead, without having seen the original. I loved it, yet I hear a lot of people say the movie stunk.

(For the record - the only part of the original that I really liked was "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" the rest of it wasn't as enjoyable - there were too many characters with not enough screen time for me to build empathy - and Benny Hill's character was incredibly annoying).

Honestly I think the movie sucks.  The comment made about every DB fan going to see the movie to see if it really is bad, really will pad the stats for ticket sales and I refuse to be part of that padding.  I won't go to the theater to watch it. I will watch the movie, and hate every moment of it personally, but I refuse to be part of the high ticket sales this movie will make, as it will not mean it’s a good movie, it will mean that people paid to confirm their fears.  If this movie was made IN Japan, sort of like the Death Note movies, I would say it would have better chances, but because it’s made in the US, by fox no less, Hope has almost dwindled.  Call me a pessimist, but this is just my own opinion, not saying anyone else thinks the way I do.
I am sure it’s going to be a good movie for special effects and maybe even story, but when you smack on a "DRAGON BALL" sticker on it, it had better damn well live up to what it’s based on and cater to the fans.  To me it’s going to turn out like Final Fantasy Spirits within, if it had a generic title, not related to a huge franchise, then I am sure no one would hate it the idea automatically and see it first, but the only reason its going to be called DRAGON BALL and loosely base on the series is to get TICKET SALEs  That’s all.  Bad move, as instantly people hate.  If you wanted a success using the DB name, then should have been more true to the series they are trying to reproduce.  For a series that has such hard core fans, the use of "Creative Licensing" just does not cut it. Sorry.
