How fast are DBZ characters?

They are lightspeed because they are lasers fired by 100% machine android. It runs on some unknown energy generator.
The laser attack has been labelled as Photon Laser & Bionic Punisher.
Photon is light particles.
 
It would be absurd for a Genius of Dr.Gero level to not have created lasers, when he can create Artificial Life etc.


Here is close-range dodging of lasers, Vegeta moves right above him, this is better than the other scan.

The "paralysing light" was the technique Freiza was using. Piccolo worded it that way to explain what Goku did. Goku escaped Frieza's technique. Saying he's moving faster than light is only wishful thinking.

@hitsusatsu11: No. That assuming that he meant Light. He was clearly using the word "light" to explain the technique Frieza was using. When does light explode? Goku was just faster than the energy exploding.

Yes, light means light. A simple concept. 




He was faster than the light energy emanating outward.









He got a good distance away before the light explosion could, i.e he outraced the light. 
Not to mention in addition to this we have previous feats of ki beams going nigh ightspeed, and statements showing Freeza's beams are faster.

I still stand by SSJ being lightspeed like  SSJ Gotenks.
 
SSJ aura is emits light - Evidence is Goku vs Yakon
The is no light in space - Evidence is common sense, Star produce light in space, without them space is filled with darkness.
SSJ Gotenks circles the world 5 times on panel, some circles were twice the circumference of earth.
SSJ aura of light can be seen from space, you can also see the amount of laps he did around the earth before the light disappeared.
 

 
 

 

 
 


Because SSJ Gotenks had flown round the earth 5 times on panel and some of the laps were twice the size of the earth. The light emitted from the SSJ also had not disappeared yet, we all know light does not say there forever. 
 
Because of this I believe SSJ Gotenks & above is capable of lightspeed travel speed & FTL combat speed.      
 
And the fact that King Kai stated Frieza and goku as moving even faster than the spaceship that goku used to get to Namek which is massively FTL.
 
DBZ characters are ridiculously fast.

Definitely at least light speed. A lot of people like to lable DBZ fans who think DBZ characters can move light speed as DBZtards. Simple logic, Piccolo's blast reached the moon in a second, that's about as fast as light reaches the moon. People doge piccolo's blasts all the time. Goku's Kamehameha reached the sun in 25 seconds, it takes 8 minutes for light from the sun to reach earth. People have dodged Goku's Kamehameha when he was a lot stronger than he was then. So yes, people in DBZ can move at light speed, possibly even faster,
