The mmo already came out in Japan and Korea just search youtube for dragon ball z mmo gameplay. I so hope this is a new anime or manga with new characters and story.

This would truly be fantastic if it does.  I even know where the perfect place to put new stories in, right after Buu and before the time jump at the end of the series.

im hoping for a sort of alternate reality starting at the end of the frieza saga. Since the arrival of future trunks brought up the possibilty of alternate realities i can totally see toriyama 'ending' the story at the destruction of namek like he intended. This means no androids, cell, buu and so on. The new series will be a continuation of the story where toriyama intended to end it....so this would possibly mean goku actually dies for good on namek along with vegeta, frieza, and others with only gohan, bulma, and a dying piccolo surviving.
Starting from here toryiama would have a clean slate to write the story of dragonall without the pressure of his fans and editors
 
however, im not saying i want goku, and especially vegeta to stay dead.....well actually vegata would have only died once so he could be brought back.........what im saying is even if goku and vegeta were to revived the main focus of the story should primarily still fall on gohan

As if old Toriyama still has it in him for a new DragonBall series, well he did say DBGT was non-canonical since he didn't write the story for it, and it wasn't the way he wanted to end DBZ.

Heck we get a special 50 minute episode of DBZ eve ... ry year to show DBGT was not in the real DB universe.

I'm pretty excited for this, I don't know how many pages our old friend can write for the story, let alone ink pages for the manga and anime, but here's hoping.

Akira Toriyama is the guy who brought you Chrono Trigger, the famous Dragon Quest VIII, and countless other RPGs. Watch out folks!!    

I thought the original dragon ball was pretty good, it is just when Z and beyond came in that things became unweildy.  The idea of more stories about the Dragon Ball Universe might be interesting, though might not at the same time be something I'd checkout.

Dragon Ball was the first manga that i read. And i think that its a great manga, especially pre DBZ. So i  hope for a precursor to DB.

now's akiras chance to make goku blow up a universe, just kidding this is awesome news but my hopes aren't high yer

DB online is canon, and even retcons GT, or so I'm told.

And I'm a massive DragonBall fan as well, DB > DBZ for sure. The DragonBall Z anime was meh, but I love it anyway for nostalgia reasons.
