This movie was not amazing but it was good. There are both good and bad factors about this movie. I'll start off with a brief description of what is going on in the plot. Frieza's older brother Cooler has discovered that his younger sibling had been presumably killed by the Super Saiyan of Legend (Goku) and in order to exact revenge not for Frieza but for the Cold Family, Cooler sets out on a journey to find said Saiyan (Goku) and kill him. The movie had some good action sequences and the voice actors should be praised for their hard work although lip synching could have been better. Goku's expression when he first saw Cooler and confused him for Frieza was priceless as he was in disbelief that his nemesis survived everything they had been through. Gohan and Krillin don't play a big role in the movie and it mainly centers around Goku, Cooler, Piccolo and Salza (a henchman of Cooler's).

The movie had high levels of inconsistency and it seemed to have taken place on an alternate timeline. Why I say so is because after defeating Frieza, Goku did not immediately return to Earth and crash-landed on a planet where he learned the Instant Transmission technique and the moment he returned to Earth it was seen that he could transform into a Super Saiyan at will while in this movie he needed to be enraged to do so. This movie possibly took place in Future Trunks' timeline. I enjoyed the focus on Piccolo although I may be a little biased on that due to Piccolo being my favorite anime character.

Interestingly enough Cooler and Frieza also have androgynous appearances in their supposed final forms however Cooler's extra transformation changes his appearance and he has a more masculine appearance. The battle scenes were good although they could have been better and more epic and the movie felt somewhat slow and the plot seemed dry and stale. I was surprised at how gigantic Cooler became in his last form and it was entertaining watching him decimate Goku.

Cooler's voice is somewhat bothersome to me as it sounds like he is wearing a metal mask that alters his voice although this is my own personal opinion. Like all Dragon Ball Z Toei movies this one had a somewhat disappointing ending as Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan and effortlessly killed Cooler although he should have struggled more as even in his Super Saiyan form he took much longer to defeat the weaker Frieza.

I enjoyed how Salza was killed by Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon as it popped out from nowhere. I felt that this movie had a lack of creativity and it could have been much better than it was. I'd give it a 2.5/5.
