One of Japan's most iconic franchises, Doraemon was created by mangaka Fujiko F. Fujio and spanned 45 volumes between its start in 1969 and its final issue in 1996.

Story of Doraemon

The titular Doraemon is a stylized anthropomorphical blue cat with a pouch on his stomach. From this pouch he can pull any number of devices, from flashlights to time travel devices. Doraemon lives with the Nobi family, particularly as a companion to the son of the family, Nobita. Nobita often gets into trouble at school or with his friends and frequently depends on Doraemon to help him out, which the cat does, with varying levels of enthusiasm. In addition to 45 volumes of manga, Doraemon inspired one of Japan's longest-running TV series, which began in 1979 and continues to this day. 28 full-length films have been produced, as well as a number of video games and spin-offs.
