Rumor Squad: New Digimon Season?

I've heard a few whispers in the last couple of days speculating about the possibility that a new Digimon is in the works, apparently inspired by this post at the Yunakiti blog, which claims that there will be a new Digimon series airing this coming spring, which seems awfully quick for us to not have had an official announcement, but that keeps it far from impossible. Another piece of evidence in favor of this: Destructoid notes that Bandai Namco's teased "big comeback" RPG is, in fact, Digimon, with a new DS game due out soon. If you're going to try and bring back a multimedia franchise like Digimon, it only makes sense to bring it back as full-blast as you can, I would think.

Nebs actually claims to have a title for the new series (Digimon: Lost Evolution), although I can't find a source for that; the Yunakiti post offers up the possible title Digimon Around. That said, I can't find any other confirmation about this, so we'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, I could not find an embeddable copy of the Digimon OP, whose song gets stuck in my head to this day, but you can watch these clowns recreate it, if you want to punish yourself.

Well, how would you guys feel about a new Digimon season?

I loved the first few seasons when i was a kid, but once they started to get rid of the main cast and added in all the new guys i lost interest. Besides as we all know Digimon was always just a poor mans Pokemon! lol

Yes At Last!! and I agree with Kel stuck with what it used to be the kids traveling the digital world. That was great stuff, what was happening in later series was pretty stupid IMO.

I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons when I was a kid, but the show is just doesn't interest  me anymore.

I too had trouble finding an embeddable version a few weeks ago. I assume it's enforced by youtube due to a copyright request.

@Zeouterlimits: I'm more used to those videos being *removed*, not made un-embeddable, but it's certainly interesting.

Digimon: Lost Evolution is the name of the new DS game coming out next year, not the supposed new anime series.  Digimon Around is the only tentative title I've heard for it so far.

Blasphemy!

Digimon is awesome... This is the best rumor I've heard so far, I hope its true!

The digivolutions did get out of hand at some point. but added things like the cards and Digi eggs were fun to see...

Maybe the best way to go is go back to the roots and either continue the original cast's story or at least have the story tied to that. At one point of the original series it was explained that there was a group of original Digidestined

Maybe the series can be about them....

Digimon ended for me when the original cast and their successors grew up and got jobs at the end of Digimon Adventure 2.

I have fond memories of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon vs. VenomMyotismon and WarGreymon and Imperialdramon vs. BlackWarGreymon, both Adventure 1 and 2 were pretty awesome. I don't think I'd ever watch any others though.

As long as it is like the days of Wargreymon and Metal Garurumon vs. VenomMyotismon and the days of the Dark Masters. I hope they do it.

WTF!? I never learned of this.

I used to watch Digimon on a german channel back in the day but was only able to watch it to about halfway through the second season.
Just saw the ending of season 2 on youtube, that's pretty cool how everyone grew up.

That original universe to me is Digimon, I have no interest in it beyond that.

@RockmanBionics: Yeah I thought it was a great way to end it but then they started loads of new stuff and I said no thanks.

To americans, digimon came out long before pokemon; it was vastly superior from a storytelling, moralizing point of view and held my attention for longer than pokemon did.  Then they changed things too much and oh well, at least they had 2 good seasons.  I don't really care about a new season of digimon unless it has the original digidestined or is somehow tied to the original storyline
