Golden Week

A week period that contains a number of public holidays, such as the Emperor's Birthday, Constitution Memorial Day, Greenery Day, and Children's Day. This week is usually a school and work holiday for many, and is a huge release time in the entertainment world.

Humans

Humans are typically depicted as the dominant species of the planet Earth, and sometimes of other planets. Humans often mirror their real life counterparts in terms of abilities and intellect, while other times they can achieve superhuman feats.

An Illusion is a condition of being deceived by a false perception or belief.

A phrase used to describe a situation where someone mistakes a man/transsexual for an attractive woman. Not to be confused with "Crossplay" even though this can be said in that situation.

Kendo translates to "Way of the Sword". It is a sword competition using bamboo swords called a shinai. It is a popular martial arts practice in Japan.

The character is officially a knight. He/She usually values honor above everything else and fights for justice. There are perhaps exceptions...

Mad With Power

Some people just can't handle being put in charge.... Or being given a massive power boost, or being turned into a god, or coming into possession of a powerful object and so on and so on... These characters are usually villains, but many a hero has been guilty of this...

Manga Iconography

Common visual conventions seen in manga and anime to convey emotions, often for comical effect.

Matrix Evolution

Seen in Digimon Tamers was an ability given to the Tamers to let their partners go to the Perfect Level (Ultimate Level), and later merge with their Digimon to become there Ultimate Level (Mega Level) forms.

A ninja is a (typically Japanese) warrior, trained in martial arts fighting styles, and whom typically specializes in stealthy tactics and unorthodox arts of war.

No Mercy

When a character doesn't even hesitate to take care of an opponent and shows them no restraint or sympathy at all. Usually a trait in villains but even heroes can prove to be cold blooded when they need to be.

Someone or something that both has and raises children/offspring.

A group of at least two people who always work together and often make each other stronger by doing so.

The concept where someone is turned to stone by magical or scientific means.

The Police are a form of law enforcement officers that work on the local levels. Uniforms are normally in either blue or black.

Pop Idol

Pop Idols in Japan are classically females in their teens to early twenties. Not only are they singers, but they can also be models and general media personalities.

The act of controling an individual, making him preform actions at your will.

Princess

A female heir to a royal throne.

Reincarnation

Reincarnation is a common theme in most Asian literature, and frequently a character will appear who turns out to be the reincarnation of a past figure (fictional or otherwise).

Revenge

When someone returns an cruel favor to another after what has been done to them or an loved one.

Robot

An electro-mechanical machine which is guided by computer or electronic programming, and is thus able to do tasks on its own.

Rock Paper Scissors (janken)

Rock Paper Scissors is known in Japan as "janken". The hand gestures and rules are similar. A game that is often used to decide friendly disputes.

Royal Knights

A Group of 13 Knight Digimon who serve Yggdrasil and protect the Digital World from Evil.

School Clubs

A group gathering or activities that occurs after school is over.

Slavery

A concept where one person is treated like the property of another, sometimes legally recognized as such in the eyes of the government as well. This concept applies to both those who have been enslaved and those who have "owned" a slave. In most cases the slave is a protagonist who rebels.

Soccer

Commonly known as football. Soccer is a sport played between two teams of eleven players with a spherical ball. It is one the world's most popular sport. Inazuma Eleven is a great example.

Stalker

A anonymous follower and tab-keeper of another person or persons.

Talking Animals

Usually special animals that have the ability to speak to humans. Talking animals are a big part in several animes and mangas

The Revelation

The idea that a major event/item/history is explained to the protagonist. With the main character and reader aware of the truth, everything is approached with a new view.

Time Skip

When a series jumps several months or even several years. Usually used in series staring younger kids and it resumes when they're teenagers or even adults.

Time Travel

The ability to travel from one era to another, forward and/or backward.

Training

Specialized strategies and methods of exercise used in various anime and manga series to develop characters and prepare them for performing in events.

Twelve Divine Generals

The Twelve Divine Generals or Devas are a group of Digimon representing the Chinese Zodiac.

Twilight

Darkknightmon's Digimon Army.

Unreal Hair/Eye Color

A popular design choice for characters in anime is to give them natural hair and/or eye colors that do not occur in real nature.

Vampires

Blood sucking creatures of the night, although not always evil necessarily. They are a staple of countless anime and manga series.

Xros Heart

Taiki Kudo's Digimon army comprised of his friends and Shoutmon's.

Zombies

Zombies are an undead rotting corpse that is alive yet dead and have voracious appetites for living flesh.
