Rin, Kamiki, Kuro (Rin's cat), and Shima take a summer job selling squids, yet Kamiki meets a young boy who wants revenge on a Kracken-like demon for taking his father. In the end, the boy's father is lost (like father, like son) and the Kracken is friendly. Kamiki realizes why the young boy calls her cute due to his dog's eyebrows are very similiar to her eyebrows.
A man ventures into the storm hunting for a monster deep in the sea. At the beach, Rin and Renzo are excited to be here, but their excitement ends when Renzo complains that they have to tend to a grilled squid stand. Rin doesn't mind cooking the squid, and Kamiki overhears Renzo talking about having a hot girl selling the squid. She leaves them to go swimming, and Mr. Tsubaki greets the two boys. As Kamiki feels relaxed, she suffers a leg cramp. A young boy (Yohei) sees Kamiki in trouble, and he goes out to help her. He accidentally gropes Kamiki, and when Kamiki freaks out, he headbutts her. Later on the shore, Kamiki wakes up to see Yohei trying to give her mouth-to-mouth. Yohei finds Kamiki cute, and Renzo and Rin arrive to the scene. When Renzo calls Yohei short, Yohei states that if you're big where it counts, you are a man. Kamiki thinks that Yohei is referring to "down there," but Yohei says it's the heart that matters. Rin and the gang overhear the crowd freaking out, and they see an enormous ink spill on the sea. A old monk informs them about a monstrous squid and a story about a man who hasn't come home from hunting the squid.
As the day is almost over, Rin and the company bumps into Yohei, and Yohei apologizes to Kamiki for headbutting her. Yohei asks them to lead him to the pet shop. When Kamiki asks about Yohei's father, they learn that Yohei's father had disappeared six months ago. Yohei tells them that it's the demon's fault. Over at the inn, Tsubaki gives the students a big squid dinner. After dinner, the teacher informs them about the kraken, and when Renzo asks how to destroy it, Tsubaki states that it's difficult to chant the verse for the demon to hear. Then, Tsubaki gets a call from his honey, and he tells Rin's group to watch Yohei. Moments later, Kamiki takes a bath. Outside, Kamiki finds Yohei who gives her ointment.
Next day, Rin's group finds the ink spell getting bigger. Kamiki finds Yohei sitting by the docks for a while. She asks Yohei how long he will wait. Yohei tells her what his father said about how people say negative things are not confident themselves. Then, the squid demon appears. Rin tells Renzo to do the chant, but Renzo thinks the squid has no ears. Kuro attacks the giant squid but falls down. Renzo informs Rin that cats cannot eat raw squid. Kamiki tries to summon her familiars, yet she cannot. Yohei drives his boat and shoots a harpoon at the squid. Rin swims towards Yohei in order to stop him. Though, Yohei continues to fight the squid. The squid knocks out Yohei, and Rin rescues the boy. Before Rin can use his Kurikara, Yohei's father arrive to the scene. Later, Yohei's father explains that the squid helped him return home and that squid is not a monster.
