Lag arrives in the last town on the way to Yuusari, nicknamed the "Dead-End Town" because most people there can't cross into Yuusari. A trusting Lag gets his crossing permit nicked by a local youngster who wants to deliver a letter to the man who once cared for her and her younger brother and then abandoned them, shortly after which her brother died. Lag and Niche also have a little spat.
