I've been eagerly awaiting the release of this new series for some time, and refreshing my memory about the franchise by watching reruns of TFG1 and other TF series... To be honest I did not want to get my hopes up, though a fan of Transformers, I am hardly a fanboy and am not willing to defend a steaming pile of crap, thankfully this was a very good start to what I hope is held in the same regards of storytelling as Beast Wars as the series goes on.
But lets not get ahead of ourselves, and focus on this episode first.
The voice acting is superb, Dwayne The Rock Johnson was perfect as Cliffjumper, Sumalee Montano does an excellent job as Arcee, Steve Blum portrays Starscream in a way that is very true to the character, and of course franchise veterans Peter Cullen and Frank Welker continue to be the iconic voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
Animation was better then expected, lighting looks realistic, the Transformers themselves look quite good, Optimus does have a mouth, but his old school look is still there as he has a face plate occasionally  covering it, explosions look great, movement is fluid, and Megatron has never looked more evil.
Sound effects were great, little things like gunfire and screeching tires really sink up with the animation in a way that many series in this franchise have neglected or just used recycled audio of the same sound over and over again.
So it looks and sounds good, but does the plot bring it all together?
Well here is where you may want to take my word for it that this is worth checking out and stop reading if you don't want spoilers because I am going to go into a ton of detail about this episode!
A great start to what will hopefully be a superb series.
