Strong against Psychic and Ghost types. Weak against Fighting and Bug types.

Overview

One of the 18 elemental Pokemon types that was introduced in generation II. Before generation IV all dark moves were special.

Battle Properties

Offense

Dark type Pokemon are super effective against Ghost and Psychic types, But their attacks are resisted by Dark, Fairy and Fight types. Many Dark moves specializes in stealing the opponent items or stealing moves abilities or using the opponent strength against him.

Defense

Dark type Pokemon are immune to psychic type. from the generation II to V Dark type were weak against Bug and Fight, and Fight type was added from VI onward. The Dark type are also resisted against Dark and ghost type.

Foul playThe higher the attack stat of the target the greater the damage
Knock OffPrevents the target from using his item
Night SlashCritical hits land more easily
PaybackIf the user moves after the target this attack power gets doubled
PunishmentThe Power of this attack increases for every power up the targets get through stat change
PursuitIf the target switches, the attack power is doubled
Sucker PunchThis move enables the user to attack first, but it fails if the target is not readying itself for an attack
ThiefThe Pokemon attacks and steals the target's item
