Apparently someone thinks that the anime DVD market, such as it is, is similar to the comic book market, because word is that Dante's Inferno-- the anime DVD/Blu-Ray tie-in to the upcoming video game, all of which comes out February 9th --will have six different covers, one for each director involved in the project.

In order from left to right:
  • JM Animation, director Lee Seung-Gyu
  • JM Animation, director Kim Sang-Jin
  • Dongwoo Animation, director Nam Jong-Sik
  • Film Roman, director Victor Cook
  • Production I.G, director Yasoumi Umetsu
  • Manglobe, director Shukou Murase

Hmm, which one would you buy? I kinda like the come-hither look of Manglobe's, but it's hard to go wrong with Production I.G...

(Source: Most of these came via Kotaku, but for some reason their copy of the Dongwoo cover didn't work, so I snatched one up from IGN.)

Oh hey, and we have a trailer for this!

This looks solid.  I think EA is just hoping that the game wont bomb.  My bet is they are hoping that if people liked the anime, they will pick up the game.

How well did that work out for Devil May Cry?

Not to sure actually.  I know the DMC games have sold well.

Didn't expect that to happen.

Nice artwork. I didn't realize that Dante used a schyte as a weapon. Hope none of those flop.

I agree with the fact that DMC anime is not good, unlike the videogame.

Don't think that is a completely fair statement, The anime for DMC was a cash in on a popular game franchise that was selling well, this is a anime based of a story that just so happens to have a game based off the same story (i'm don't know of any other connections),

First Deadspace then Halo Legends and now this, truly this is the age of  mediocre  video game anime

They all look good, but I like the 3rd one the best. I kind of like the idea of having multiple different covers to choose from.

I really want to play the game and I'd probably watch this anime too.

Rated M of mature.

Why is it for the most part (Not inculding Witchblade and Afro Samuri.  I'm sure I've forgot someone here) when the western compines want to do an anime with an anime company they have six or more different directors do different verisons of it in one movie.  Why can't it be just the one director and one verison.  So that way it tell just the one story.

Six different covers are a neat idea.

Based off is stetching it the only thing that game shares with the first third of the Divine Comedy is that there is a character with the name Dante and a character with the name Virgil and they walk through Hell. That is pretty much it.

Except this is based on a below mediocre game where the other two are not. o_O

Well, I think the DMC anime did pretty poorly anyway, so that's probably not a good sign.

@John_Martone: At first I thought you meant Detroit Metal City, not Devil May Cry.

Stupid Devil May Cry.
