Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic is an animated movie based on the 2010 multiplatform video game by Visceral Games. It retells the story of the game. The movie is developed by 6 different animation directors and 5 different animation studios. The animation studios are Film Roman, Production IG, Manglobe, Dongwoo Animation and JM Animation.

The story is about Dante, a Christian soldier in the 3rd crusade who from returning home finds his wife and father murdered and his wife Beatrice’s soul taken by the devil. So Dante has to descend through the 9 circles of hell to confront the devil and save the innocent soul of his wife Beatrice. He meets the spirit of the long dead Virgil (Publius Vergilius Maro). He tells Dante that god sent him and it is god’s will for him to travel to hell and defeat Lucifer. Virgil is Dante’s guide through the circles of hell.

Dante’s father is voiced by Mark Hamil and Lucifer is voiced by Steven Blum. There are a number of differences in the story between the anime and video game. The biggest being that in the anime Dante gets his scythe from a random demon but in the video game Dante kills Death and takes his scythe.

The DVD and Blu-Ray version of Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic has six different covers.
