CrunchyRoll has established a deal with yet another Japanese company, this time Pony Canyon. For titles, they've got Steel Angel Kurumi, a 1999 action/romantic comedy featuring a boy who stumbles upon-- and becomes master to –Kurumi, a fighting android dressed as a maid. (Think of it as a less ecchi predecessor to Mahoro-Matic, perhaps.)
There's also some interesting words from Hideyuki Saida, Pony Canyon's Deputy General Manager, on the matter:
Crunchyroll helps create a new business model for online monetization and we are looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship with them. We want fans abroad to know that we are here for them and want to bring them great anime titles for years to come.
Now, it's interesting that they're starting out with such a relatively old title (and one I can't help but notice was released on DVD in the US by ADV). Will you check it out? I'm thinking about it; I never got to watch the show when it actually came out. (Plus I've already got my Anime Members account paid for.)
