The act of wearing clothes commonly associated with the opposite gender.

The commonly used term for an anime/manga male character who dons such attire, is trap (or reverse trap for girls dressed as boys).

Well known trap characters in media include Bridget from the Guilty Gear fighting game series, and Jun Watarase from Happiness!. Likewise there have been a few memorable reverse trap characters in media, such as Naoto Shirogane from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 and Idol Master's Makoto Kikuchi

Cross-dressing characters appear in many different types of manga, even appearing in popular series such as One Piece. Okama (a slang term for transvestite) characters Benthan, Emporio Ivankov and Inazuma are three of the more important Okama in One Piece.
