Makarov and the gang welcome Natsu's team
Makarov and the gang welcome Natsu's team

Natsu's group arrives all exhausted in front of the Fairy Tail guild where Macao and the group meet up with them. A few of them reveal that they have improved. Makarov arrives to announce the teams. Natsu, Gray, Erza, Lucy, and Wendy are the new team for the Grand Magic Game. Lucy and Wendy are shocked, and Wendy asks Makarov to reconsider Gajeel or Laxus. Though, Makarov states that they haven't come to the guild. Erza gives pep talk to rally the guild. In Crocus, Natsu's team arrives in an exhausted state, and Erza scolds them for being weak. Makarov and the gang greet Erza's group, and the towns folks make fun of Fairy Tail much to Natsu's chagrin. Happy tries to cheer up Natsu by snickering at Droy and Jet. Makarov states that he does not know what the match is, and the older members share that the events change from time to time. Levy uses her special glasses to read the rules, and she explains them to her teammates. She tells them that all participants must be back at the hotel by midnight or they will be disqualified. Natsu, Happy, and Lucy go off to explore the city. Over at the Honeybone inn, Erza takes her sweet time in checking the room for anything suspicious while wearing a towel.

In town, Juvia asks Gray to go eat with her, and Lyon shows up to take Juvia to a restaurant. Lyon and Gray starts exchanging glares and trash talk until Lyon brings up a wager. If Gray loses, Juvia has to join Lamia Scale. Meanwhile at the Honeybone inn, Erza daydreams about Jellal until Ichiya ruins the moment. Erza beats him and then kicks Ichiya's trio, too. In town, Raven Tail, Quatro Cerebus, and Mermaid Heel's teams are revealed. Later that night, Wendy and Charle do some sightseeing by the palace while a sinister imp watches over the two. Natsu overhears a fight from a mob. He smells a dragon, and he spots Sting and Rogue beating up some men. Happy finds Frosh and Lector and is surprised by the talking cats. Sting mocks Natsu, and he states that they are true Dragon Slayers. Lector explains about the first and second generation of Dragon Slayers and their differences. For the third generation, they are taught by dragons and have dragon lacrima in their body. When Natsu asks them if their dragons disappear in the year 777, Rogue informs Natsu that they killed their respective dragons.

At the Honeybone inn, Erza scolds Natsu, Lucy, and Gray for being late. Both Natsu and Happy remember the guys who insulted and vow to get back at them. When Erza mentions that Wendy is missing, Lucy has some wild imaginations of Wendy. Elfman and Lisanna enters the room with drinks. Erza asks Lisanna if she has seen Wendy. As midnight occurs, a Pumpkin announcer states that they will have an elimination round that will narrow 113 guilds to 8. The environment changes and transforms into a labyrinth floating in the sky.
