Coud is a member of the Red Lynx sky pirates, though not very skilled or respected due to his youth. He is a struggling boy trying to become boss of the Red Lynx.
Coud first appears on the Red Lynx Pirate Ship during a raid on some aristocrat. Coud attempts to help raid, but by the time her bursts into the ship and makes a fool of himself the Red Lynx crew and Boss have already cleared the place out. Coud in embarrassment leaves the meeting room on the Red Lynx Ship after being humiliated by the crew and Boss, only finding himself searching through the treasure they just gathered. Coud finds a strange coffin and taking a seal out of the box and throwing it, thus awakening to what the thinks is just a mannequin, but is really a very powerful edel raid, The Shichiko-hoji. Once awakened she tells Coud that she hates humans, but just then the ship is attacked and Cou protects her from the Edel Raid Complete Protection Agency. The members that came aboard were Cisqua, Rowen, and Kuea. After they bribe cou for Reverie Metherlance (Shichiko-hoji), Coud tells them they "make him sick" for trying to "buy her like an object". They are attacked again, but by a different agency also wanting to get their hands on Reverie Metherlance for themselves. The second agency is later exposed as Chaos Choir. After Coud telling Reverie that "He just wants to be with her", and "is drawn towards her lonelyness" because he is just like her without a family Reverie reacts with Coud enabling Coud to use her as a weapon (like all Edel Raids can). After warding off Chaos Choir and saving Reverie their ship falls to the ground and Coud asks her her name and she replys with Reverie Metherlance and he just ends up naming her Ren. Ren and Coud then start a quest to go to Edel Garden, a place where Edel Raids were supposedly born and is technologically advanced. Cisqua then insists and forces herself along with Rowen and Kuea to go with them. Their story continues from their leading up to more captures, protections, agencies, and finally Edel Garden.
