Cuteycat, a two-month-old kitten, is taken in by a young man called Tokio, who takes pity on her on a rainy day. Cuteycat becomes one of the family, though she has trouble winning over Tokio's mother, who is allergic to cats. Cuteycat is heartbroken when Tokio falls in love with a girl in the park, only to be rescued from despair when she meets the handsome, silver-haired tomcat Raphael, who explains that humans and cats can never truly be together.

Richard Clayderman's twee piano hits just the right note in this weepy romance. Yumiko Oshima's 1978 manga for Comic Lala was adapted here by its original author with veteran scenarist Tsuji. Years later, animator Tomita would defect to the U.S. to work on homegrown animation like Invasion America.
