It’s days like this that make me wish I made electronic music. Call me DJ Mega Assault. If I were, I could confound club rats by offsetting my big, trancy beats with the following bizarre sample…
I love your stubbornness and your kindness and your strength. I love your sad eyes, your clumsiness and the way you have trouble with cats. I love everything about you! So please, don’t hate yourself!
Cyrano himself couldn’t have crafted a more romantic ode to love.
I must believe that dubbing team had to be aware of how ridiculous this show was when they got to recording. You’ve got to be a special breed of earnest to say that monologue without your tongue in cheek. I’m not saying this show is bad - - not even that elusive so-bad-it’s-good - - but it has become something unintentionally hilarious with these past few episodes. Try to tell me that the closing scene with Suzaku and Euphemia basically shaking hands after their dramatic emotional profession of feelings doesn’t feel like the punchline to some extended joke. Outside of EVANGELION, I’m starting to realize that shonen (or seinen, or whatever) is the realm where nudity and skimpy outfits are perfectly OK, but kissing still holds the high danger of cooties.
Something else I’ve been meaning to bring up for a while: have any of you lunatics noticed that the “computer sounds” inside the mechs’ cockpits is the same stock sound effect that was used for the Wonka Vision segment of WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY? I feel like that was used in a lot of cartoons… in the 70s. It’s amusing to think that CODE GEASS dusted it off after three decades of disuse.
