A Claymore is a human implanted with Yoma flesh and blood to create a hybrid possessing the intelligence of a human and the strength of a Yoma. They can be divided into Defensive and Offensive types, and can turn into an Awakened Being if they lose their mind to their Yoma side.
The Claymore were originally men, but due to a high rate of awakened being transformations, the organization switched to women and stopped using men. (numerous male awakened beings such as the Mantis Being and Armadillo Being were also once Claymore of the male generation, but their true names and ranks are unknown)
The organization began to use young girls as templates for new Claymore after their overwhelming failure to control the men.Only one member of the Claymore of this generation is known, the very first female Claymore as well as the top ranked of her generation
Only the top 6 ranked members are known (including two who held the #2 position), and Elda is only known by mention and was never actually seen, the members of the squad sent to execute Teresa are also part of this generation, but none of them were named or ranked.
The closest to a completely revealed generation of Claymore, this was the generation that the anime series centered around. 32 of the the Claymore of this generation's rank were identified (or 33 considering both Miria and Hilda were identified as having a ranking of #6) with an additional 6 seen or mentioned but unranked these were: Elena, Raquel, Kate (mentioned as Northern War casualty), Lucia (mentioned as Northern War casualty), Undine's dead friend (whose sword Undine carries along with her own, mentioned during the story of Undine's origin) and lastly an unnamed Claymore who was part of a Yoma hunting party seen in Toriro.
