Arson

Awakened Being

The name given to a Claymore that has over exerted their yoki limits and have gained the ability to turn into a monster. Some have gained Yoma like tendencies like the craving of human flesh while others have control over this.

Bad Ass Fight Scene

A fight scene or epic battle that stands above the norm of what the series offers and goes down in history as one of the best combat encounters in the series. The perfect combination of epicness and animation.

Cannibalism

The act of eating a member of ones own species.

Claymore

A Claymore is a human implanted with Yoma flesh and blood to create a hybrid possessing the intelligence of a human and the strength of a Yoma. They can be divided into Defensive and Offensive types, and can turn into an Awakened Being if they lose their mind to their Yoma side.

Crying

What someone does when upset/sad. Sometimes people can also cry from sheer joy.

The loss of limbs and body parts is a common concept in many of the more violent Japanese manga and anime.

Dual Wield

A common fighting style for skilled characters in fiction. In history it's use was rather rare and hard to learn, but probably this exoticity is the cause of it's relative popularity now. This includes both melee and ranged weapons.

Extreme Violence

It's use can be intended to be shockingly disturbing or hilariously absurd.

Filler

Something that isn't from the manga. Could be characters, episodes, and so forth.

Flashback

Used frequently in Anime to either recap past events or provide a back story for a character, either their origin story or their off-screen training of new attack. Sometime and entire episode/chapter would be a entire flashback.

Humans

Humans are typically depicted as the dominant species of the planet Earth, and sometimes of other planets. Humans often mirror their real life counterparts in terms of abilities and intellect, while other times they can achieve superhuman feats.

Hybrids

Hybrid characters are often a mixture of different background that are normally thought to be in opposition. These are mostly seen as a mixture of humans with either aliens, spirits, or demons.

Knight

The character is officially a knight. He/She usually values honor above everything else and fights for justice. There are perhaps exceptions...

The act of taking another person's life.

Someone incapable of speaking

No Mercy

When a character doesn't even hesitate to take care of an opponent and shows them no restraint or sympathy at all. Usually a trait in villains but even heroes can prove to be cold blooded when they need to be.

Priest

The character is working as a priest, a guide and teacher of God. Often leads holy rituals such as marriage and burials.

Rage

Often when a character needs to grow stronger in battle, they find this strength through anger. A character being overwhelmed with rage can give them great power or even let them grow to a new level.

Rape

This concept applies to two groups of characters: Rapists, those who committed this horrible crime, and Rape victims, those who have been raped. (Let us be VERY clear this page is intended as a SERIOUS concept and hentai related images are not wanted on this page.)

Sadist

A Sadist is a type of person who attains gratification out of witnessing the suffering of others, either physical or emotional pain.

Strong Women

Anime has long been known for having many strong male protagonist and depicting women as being weaker and in need of protection, but there are many female characters out there fighting this stereotype. These are women who possess strength not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well and are often the heroes of a series.

The Organization

The shadowy group responsible for the creation and deployment of Claymores and the collection of fees from completed hunts. They may have also created the Yoma as Miria has come to believe

Torture

Torture is the act of inflicting pain to gain something from a victim. There are no restrictions on what can be gained, but generally it is done to receive a confession, information, or pleasure from harming others.

Tragedy

A story or event centered around human misery. Characters in the story face suffering, dread, and destruction.

Training

Specialized strategies and methods of exercise used in various anime and manga series to develop characters and prepare them for performing in events.

Transformation

The Idea of a character transforming into a animal, monster, creature, demon, or other types of creatures.

Villains Trio

A long tradition of anime villains starting with Time Skeletons in Time Bokan. Most of the times they consist of a good looking female, a thin intelligent male and a smaller fat male serving as strongman. Though this can sometimes variate.

War

The massive battle of death between 2 factions or nations. Can either be because of religion, need for power or wealth, hatred of the other faction/nation etc.

Yoma
