Plot

"Chuunibyou" is loosely defined as "middle-schooler syndrome," a phase that everyone seems to go through in their middle school years where they pretend they are a superhero, eat weird new foods, or obsess over different things they find cool or interesting. Eventually, they grow out of it, and feel embarrassed every time they remember it.

As Yuuta Togashi enters high school, he remembers how obsessed he was with acting like an original anime character he named "Dark Flame Master" and decides to put that embarrassing past behind him. However, a girl who lives in the apartment directly above his and goes to the same school still has delusions of being a magical anti-hero herself, and she won't leave Yuuta alone as she includes him in her fantasies.
