Chrome Shelled Regios is a fantasy story written by Shusuke Amagi. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world where the environment was reduced to barren land inhaitated by giant mutated beings, the Filth Monsters. Humanity were forced to live in mobile cities with artificial environment called Regios.

Overview

Originallly a light novel series written by Shusuke Amagi and illustrated by Miyu in Dragon Magazine. The series has been adapted into two other light novels as well as four manga adaptions and one anime adaption. All have ended except the second manga adaption Chrome Shelled Regios: Missing Mail which is still on going.

Plot

Chrome Shelled Regios is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the land is no longer inhabitable and the people live in moving cities called as Regios. The huge mutant Pollutant Monsters dominate those barren lands and time to time they raid the moving cities for food(humans). The cities only defense are the Military Artists, who has the special power of Kei and the weapons called as DITEs to fight the Filth Monsters. Our protagonist Layfon is a former Heavens Blade, elite Military Artist from the famous Grendan city. After an incident he got exiled and he went to a different place, the Academy City(imagine a whole city ruled by students) of Zuellni. He wants to start over and settle down peacefully but the circumstances force him to join Zuellni's 17th Platoon and fight once again.

Layfon Wolfstein Alseif

Weapon of choice: Sword, Broad sword, Guan Dao, Steel threads and Katana
The main protagonist of the series and an excellent fighter with the ability to master combat techniques fast. Previously a Heaven's Blade wielder he wants nothing more to put his military and fighting past behind him.
Nina Antalk

Voiced by: Ayahi Takagaki , Brina Palenci

Weapon of choice: Iron Whip

Captain and leader of the 17th Platoon. She was born to a martial artist family and a need to see the world caused her to run away from home. Due to a incident as a child she holds the life force of a electric fairy who sacrificed itself for her. She does like Layfon but only admits it under extreme circumstances.
Felli Loss
Voiced by: Mai Nakahara , Monica Rial
Weapon of choice: Wand
A psychokinesis user and with this power has trouble showing emotion via facial exspressions due to the massive amount of information a psychokinesis users brain is wired to take in. She has some romantic feelings for Layfon.
Sharnid Elipton
Voiced by: Kishô Taniyama , Eric Vale
Weapon of choice: Sniper Rifle, Dual Pistols
A former member of the 10th Platoon and fourth year student he is the oldest of Platoon 17 and an excellent sharpshooter. Mostly laid back with a teasing nature Sharnid can mask his Kei but not enough to hide himself from Layfon and Leerin.
Harley Sutton
Voiced by: Daisuke Sakaguchi , Greg Ayres
Weapon of choice: Non-combatant
Specializing in weapon adjustments to make weapons best fit their owners he is not trained in combat. He is also Nina's childhood friend. His ability would class him as a DITE Engineer.

Kalian Loss
Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu , Jerry Jewell
The older brother of Felli Loss. He is head of the student council and he thinks nothing of going to any extreme to protect the city including sacrificing his own sister. He has charisma which allows him to give excellent speeches. Despite his actions he does care for his sister though not for a relationship between her and Layfon.
Mayshen Torinden
Voiced by: Asuka Ōgame , Leah Clark
Gentle and timid a first year student of the Liberal Arts Department.
Miff Rotten
Voiced by: Eri Sendai , Brittney Karbowski
Also a first year student and best friend to Mashen she felt interested in Layfon from the moment she seen him at the inauguration ceremony.
Vanze Haldey
Voiced by: Youji Ueda, John Burgmeier
Captain of the 1st Platoon and head of military arts. He is extremly strong and uses a large sword with a slightly curved tip. He took down Nina in the inter platoon match.

Written by Shusuke Amagi and illustrated by Miyu the light novel was published by Fujimi Shobo to a mainly Male demographic through March 18, 2006 until September 25, 2013 and the series contains 25 volumes along with a short story light novel series is serialized in Dragon Magazine.

Legend of Regios (June 29, 2007 - September 20, 2008)

A science fiction light novel series titled Legend of Regios published under its Style-F label by Fujimi Shobo the story is set in the past world of Chrome Shelled Regios series. It consists of 3 volumes.

Regios Crusade (March 16, 2009 - January 20, 2012)

Written by Shusuke Amagi as most of the adaptions are and illustrated by Miyu this series consists of 3 volumes and ran from March 16, 2009 until January 20, 2012.

Kōkaku no Regiosu (April 2007 - December 7, 2011)

The first manga adaption written by Shusuke Amagi also drawn by Miyu was serialized in the shonen manga magazine Dragon Age Pure. The series consists of three volumes.

Chrome Shelled Regios: Missing Mail (June 2007 - Ongoing)

The second manga adaption written by Shusuke Amagi and drawn by Nodoka Kiyose was serialized in the Shonen manga magazince Monthly Dragon Age.

Chrome Shelled Regios: Secret Side (April 10, 2008 - May 22, 2009)

The third manga adaption also written by Shusuke Amagi and drawn by Watari was serialized in Beans Ace magazine from April 10, 2008 and ran until May 22, 2009. The series contains 2 volumes.

Kōkaku no Regiosu no 4 Koma Feri no Uta (November 8, 2008 - October 7, 2009)

A four panel comic strip adaption drawn by Masumi Futaba started serialization on November 8, 2008 in the monthly Dragon Age formerly known as Dragon Age Pure until October 7, 2009. The series consist of 2 Volumes.

Chrome Shelled Regios (January 11, 2009 - June 20, 2009)

The anime adaption directed by Itsuro Kawasakii and written by Mamiko Ikeda released by Zexcs and licensed by Funimation Entertainment. began January 11, 2009 and ran until June 20, 2009 and consisted of 24 episodes.
