Chirorin Village and Walnut's Tree was a children's puppet show broadcast on NHK between 1956 and 1964 featuring the adventures of three junior high school children: Tonpei the Onion, Kurumi the Walnut, and Peanut (the Peanut) in the titular village. Brought back to cash in on parents' nostalgia, it was remade as a TV anime with famous voice actresses, such as Noriko Hidaka and Minami Takayama, and far-fetched episodes, including I'm Not a Criminal, The Sound of a Vampire, Come Out You Monsters, and Back to the Secret Base.
