The mangaka behind the extremely popular series Revolutionary Girl Utena.
Chiho Saito is a prolific shoujo mangaka best known for her series Revolutionary Girl Utena, which blurred lines between masculine and feminine, as well as incorporating strong allegory and psychological drama into what otherwise appears to be a shoujo romance.
Saito's debut work was1982's Ken to Mademoiselle ("Sword and Mademoiselle"), but it was 1996's Utena that really made Saito's reputation, especially when it was adapted into an anime in 1997. No series by Saito since has achieved such popularity, although she continues to create manga to this day, and is also an active member of the Be-Papas mangaka collective.
Saito's hobbies are dance, music, opera, and sumo.
