Centerfold is a Stand user whose card is the Hanged Man. He is a murderer of Jean-Pierre Polnarieff's younger sister as well as a servant of the vampire Dio Brando.
Centerfold raped and killed many girls he had admired over the years. One day, he encountered Sherry Polnareff and her friend walking home from school. He raped and killed Sherry and then tried to kill her friend but accidentally left her alive.
Centerfold was created by Hirohiko Araki, the author and illustrator of series, as a minor villain of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's third arc, Stardust Crusaders. His Japanese name, J. Geil, is a reference to the American rock band from Worcester Massachusetts, USA, J. Geils Band.
In the English localization, J. Geils's name in the Japanese manga is changed to Centerfold which is a reference to the single Centerfold released by the J. Geils Band.
Centerfold is a well-built man with no hair and a slight disfigured face. He has a deformity in which his left hand appears to be a right hand and his eyes often appear to have no pupil or iris. He wears a fedora with a leather jacket, pants, bracers and boots with a white shirt.
He has a very perverted and cruel personality during his interactions with Jean-Pierre Polnareff. He also tends to use innocent bystanders in order to help him defeat his opponents and shows no remorse for these actions.
While the Polnareff was in a restaurant bathroom, Centerfold sends his Stand the Hanged Man to lure him away from the group in order to get a better chance to attack him. After the trap works, he and Hol Horse move to attack Polnareff. He quickly disappears before Polnareff can get a look at his face and waits for Polnareff into fall into their trap. Mohammed Avdol appears and saves Polnareff from the Emperor’s bullet but he is stabbed in the back by the Hanged Man and shot by the Emperor. Centerfold begins to taunt Polnareff through the Hanged Man which causes him to blindly attack the mirror and almost kill himself. However, Noriaki Kakyoin attacks him in order to move him away at the last second. He then grabs Polnareff and escapes with in a truck but the Hanged Man chases after them.
The Hanged Man quickly catches up to the vehicle and begins to attack them once again. The initial attack causes the truck to crash but Polnareff and Kakyoin make it out with only minor injuries. Polnareff then witnesses the Hanged Man jump to multiple reflective surfaces until he reaches the bumper which makes Polnareff realize the true nature of the Hanged Man's abilities. Despite this, Centerfold makes the Hanged Man jump into the eyes of a child and uses this as an opportunity to attack them. However, Polnareff kicks sand into the child’s eyes which forces the Hanged Man to retreat. Polnareff uses Silver Chariot to intercept him and hit him while he is traveling to Polnareff’s eyes and wounds his chests. Centerfold then screams in pain which helps Kakyoin and Polnareff locate him. Before they could arrive, Centerfold gives a bystander the same injuries as himself and hides behind some rocks.
When Polnareff and Kakyoin confront the bystander, Centerfold uses this as an opportunity to throw a knife at Polnareff. Before Kakyoin could attack him, he calls a crowd over and makes his Stand enter their eyes. Kakyoin then gathers the crowd’s attention on his coin as he throws it into the air and Polnareff kicks sand into the eyes of a bystander in order to force the Hanged Man out. This allows Polnareff to deliver another attack on the Hanged Man. Centerfold is then stabbed repeatedly by the Silver Chariot and left hanging by his feet on a fence as he dies.
