One of the Mutant Barbarois, that Meier Link hired to protect him. Caroline is able to shapeshift and meld with anything.
She is a mutant minion hired by Meier to help escort his chariot. She is different in both movie and book, as they have alternate versions of her powers and outlines.
In the book, she is a strangely powerful dhampir just like D. She can turn anyone into her slave by draining their lifeblood. In the book, she plotted along with Mashira against Meier and the girl (unnamed in the book) and apparently she had a unusual interest in the vampire Meier. She turns Kyle into a dhampir slave and tries to do the same with Leila but she overpower Caroline's blood call and kill her.
In the movie, her role is greatly dimineshed as her origins are covered but she could transform herself into anything and meld into the surroundings. She could even survive being decapitated but she survives later only to be finished off this time for real by lightning strike.
