General
Candles are often made up of materials like tallow or wax, with a wick stuck at the top. The wick is then lit by a flame, usually from a match or lighter. Candles come in different shapes and sizes, from tiny birthday candles to elaborate candelabras.
In Descendants of Darkness
Candles represent life. Hakushaku, who keeps watch over the Castle of Candles (a huge manse filled with candles), has the job of snuffing them out when people die and recording their names. However, he does extend the lives of some people when Asato Tsuzuki asks for it, but that's only because the count is obsessed with him.
