Howdy everyone, welcome to the Fairy Tail vs Buster Keel thread! This blog is going to be rushed, so I will fill major details later. Beware of spoilers because I'm doing character analysis especially for Lucy/Lavie and Gray/Blue.

Plot

Buster Keel

Buster Keel is about Lavi and her sidekick Mippy who are on a quest to be top class adventurers. One day, they meet Keel who is searching for a man named Siva to restore his body. The three team up to help each other. In their quest, they find out that they have a bigger role to save the world from evil.

Plot

Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail is about a guild called Fairy Tail, and it follows the adventures of Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartphilia, Happy, and others who are always getting in trouble with the law and bad guilds.

I will fill in the general similarities and differences between the series. Right now, the characters are important.

Characters

First up is similarities and then differences.

• Natsu Dragneel = Keel
• Lucy Heartfilia = Lavi Heartful
• Gray Fullbuster = Blue
• Happy = Mippy

Fairy Tail	Similarities and Differences	Buster Keel
Natsu Dragneel	Similarities Both have spikey hair style. Both have no tact when they interact with women. (IE: Natsu Dragneel will tease Lucy a bit while Keel is plain rude to Lavi). Both have immense physical strength, agility, and heightened sense of smell. Both have extreme tenacity and will not give up in their battles. Differences Natsu is born human, but he has Dragon Slaying powers that were taught by his adopted father/dragon, Igneel. In Keel's case, he is originally a Dragon-ape who was forced to turn human due to a spell by Siva. Tattoos: Natsu's Fairy Tail stamp is on his right arm while Keel's tattoo is on his left arm. Natsu possesses flame magic due to being a Dragon Slayer. Keel has no magic nor attributes. Keel is a pure brawler.	Keel
Lucy Heartfilia	Similarities Background: Both come from affluent and wealthy families. Both are blonde and an only child. Both have the same initials and the same five lettered word, heart, in their last names. Differences Lucy's mom is dead while Lavi's parents are alive. Lucy's mom is a celestial wizard while Lavi's father is an adventurer. Both parents' roles influence their occupation. While both have lovable sidekicks, Lavi's is a flying pig, and Lucy's is a carrot nosed dog named Plue. Magic and Roles: Lavi's magic stems from music and it's more of a support magic. In Lucy's case, her magic is summoning Celestial Spirits. Equipment: Lavi has a guitar while Lucy has a whip. Bust Size: Lucy's boobs are bigger than Lavi. Clothing: Lucy's clothing tend to be more revealing, and Lucy cosplays often. Lavi's clothing is more modest, and she does not cosplay.	Lavi Heartful
Gray Fullbuster	Similarities Both names are colors. Both of their parents died tragically. Though, Gray had an adopted mother named Ur. Teachers: Ur taught Gray ice magic while Blue's mother taught him water magic. Differences Gray is human while Blue is a type of Kappa. Magic: Gray's magic is ice while Blue's is water. Both their magic can take form. Unlike Gray, Blue possesses a second form. Blue has katanas while Gray only uses his fists and magic. Gray is a stripper while Blue is not. Gray's looks attracts the ire of men and women while Blue's looks only attracts women. Personality: Blue is more EMO, cold, and distant than Gray. Blue's personality is similar to Sasuke Uchiha because his quest for revenge is more intense than Gray's.	Blue
Happy	Similarities Both can fly. Both are sidekicks to the main characters. Both are born from eggs and meet their partners at the day of their birth. Differences Happy is a cat while Mippy is a devil-pig. Happy's partner is Natsu; Mippy's partner is Lavi. Forms: Mippy has several forms since he's only a baby at the moment. Magic: Mippy can breathe fire while Happy has no other abilities. Origins: Happy came from another world called Edolas while Mippy is born on the same planet that Lavi inhabits.	Mippy

Sorry for not writing Btooom vs Hunger Games. Dang, I'm so busy. Though, you're welcome to do a blog on it while I attempted to do Gantz and Battle Royale.

You had a great insight on the similarities and differences with a character table.

is this the only similarities between the two anime or are there more ripoffs because i feeel like i should read buster keel to see how much of a ripoff and if its just pure bad before i make my judgement on if its a complete ripoff.

but so far im getting that ripoff sense.

Oh, Buster Keel has no anime series. It's a finished manga series with 47 chapters. It first started in October 4, 2008. Fairy Tail started in August 16, 2006. It depends on if you think Buster Keel is copying Fairy Tail because Fairy Tail came before Buster Keel.

What I forgot to include because I was rushing is the story analysis.

• Buster Keel is more about RPG, dungeons, and monsters.
• Fairy Tail is about guilds, magic, and battles.

Regarding your topic, Biggest Ripoff in Anime:

I think Fairy Tail inspired Buster Keel just like how One Piece inspired Fairy Tail and how Dragon Ball inspires most Shonen series. All the Shonen cliches are pretty much recycled.

Also, I think Buster Keel might be inspired by Hiro Mashima's other work, Monster Hunter Orage. It's another RPG based manga series.

The community had a similar debate in AniBleach's topic: Hitman Reborn or Fairy Tail.

When you get into Buster Keel, it's like reading an RPG game. If you hate Shonen cliches, this one has a lot more than Fairy Tail. Also, it has less fan service. Fairy Tail manga has a lot of ass and boobs shot when I first read it. I was like what is going on here. Though, it was more tame than Highschool of the Dead.

You will notice certain catch phrases that Keel and Blue would say a lot in their battles. You'll either hate it, get used to it, or love it.

In the end, if you're a fan of Fairy Tail and One Piece, chances are that you would probably like this manga series, too.

I have notice that Buster Kneel was copying Fairy Tail when they have Levi in a rich family like Lucy

Sorry for the late comment. I don't know how I missed you. Anime Vice is always glitching on me. I try my best to reply to everyone to thank them for their comments. For me, it was Keel who got me thinking if this manga was copying Fairy Tail. His spiky hair, the way he talks and fights, and how he treats Lavi reminded me of Natsu. Though, Keel is more insulting to Lavi versus to how Natsu is more playful with Lucy.
