Bumi is a commander in the United Forces Navy, and the second son of Avatar Aang.


Bumi is the second son the Avatar Aang and Katara. He has an older brother, Tenzin; and a sister, Yue. Unlike his siblings, Bumi is a nonbending human, but a commanding officer in the United Forces Navy. His reputation for a wild man is reflective of his namesake, King Bumi.

Bumi is a supporting character in the Avatar series created by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. Avatar: The Legend of Korra is the direct sequel to the original 2005 Avatar: The Last Airbender. It first began airing on April 14, 2012 on Nickelodeon.

His first appearance was in Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Episode 12 "Endgame". His character is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.

Major Story Arcs

Book One

Bumi was the leader of the reinforcement fleet that was heading to Republic City to help free the city of the Equalists overthrow. He received a warning from General Iroh to hold back until the threat for the Equalists planes had been dealt with. By the time he arrived, Amon and his Equalists had been defeated by Avatar Korra and her Team Avatar, and he went to see Tenzin's family on Air Temple Island

Powers & Abilities

Gommu is a human with no special powers. He does have command of a fleet of ships from the United Forces.
