First of all, Happy Mother's day everyone!

We celebrate Mother's Day to honor the hard work that our mothers done to raise us and take care of the household. They are our role models who we look up to for guidance and in our time of need.

About My Mother

For me, I spent the whole day yesterday hunting through flower shops for a particular flower, Camellia (native to my home country). It's my mother's favorite flower. Ever since I got into college 3 years ago, I never had time to relax because Mother's Day is always before finals. I blame school for being oppressive to their students and mothers. I love my mom and her home cooking which I still have trouble learning her style. When I got into college, she took a job to bring in more cash to support me in my education. I hardly ever see her on the week days or even the weekends because she comes home every 10PM from the factory. Because of how busy my mother and my father are, I end up taking care of my siblings more than ever and taking her role to cook and take care of the household. I'm the second child in the family of 6 children with the oldest being severely autistic. My mother makes a lot of sacrifices to ensure the success of her children. I loved her dearly.

Back to Anime Vice, who are your favorite Anime mothers?

My Favorites

Bulma Briefs
Bulma Briefs
Bulma Briefs - (Dragon Ball Z) She is a favorite character of mine in the Dragon Ball franchise. She's a smart woman who married to the Prince of Saiyans, Vegeta. When Future Trunks came to the present, Bulma and he got close despite not being technically related due to different timeline. She aid Trunks and the Z warriors in defeating the Androids and Cell. In Future Trunks's timeline, Bulma risks her life to provides support for her son who also risks his life to save others from the sadistic Androids.
Bulma is my favorite because she is an awesome mother.
Tsurara Shirayuki
Tsurara Shirayuki
Tsurara Shirayuki - I picked her because she's a funny character who pretty much aids her daughter, Mizore Shirayuki, in nabbing Tsukune. Rosario Vampire is a harem anime, and poor Mizore has some tough rivals. Tsurara uses her resources wisely when she invites Tsukune and the school to relax at her Hot Springs resort. (If I remember correctly)
Akane Fujisaki
Akane Fujisaki
Akane Fujisaki - Akane is from the Sket Dance franchise. For her, there will be spoilers for those who did not watch Sket Dance up to episode 46 or so. Her role as a mother is really appreciated at that point in the anime. Sure, she seems like a laidback mother, but she is a hard worker to provide food for Bossun and Rumi who has no father in the household. Yes, she's a single mother.
Spoilers: I white this out. It turns out that Akane is not Bossun's biological mother, and she is Bossun's mother's best friend. Akane adopts Bossun as her son to honor her best friend who died shortly after a car crash. It's not about blood because a mother is a woman who takes care of someone like their offspring.

Have a Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Bulma Briefs and her "oh, so sweet"... hair
Bulma Briefs and her "oh, so sweet"... hair
I was first given the introduction to the lovely seduction that is Japanese entertainment when I was nine years old. It was 2002 and Dragon Ball Z had been airing in an English dub format for a few years at that point. I went over to a friend's house for the first time and he was watching it. Needless to say, I was immediately hooked. It must've had something to do with the charming simplicity of the plot combined with the over-the-top humour and awesome action set-pieces because whenever that show was on, my eyes were glued to the irradiated screen and my mind shut off any implications of there being a world outside of what was going on in that tube. Along with the sugar high of watching Super Saiyan Goku take out Frieza with his famed Kamehameha, this anime series also marked the first time I ever had a crush on a fictional character; Bulma (of course). Her crazy-big Toriyama eyes, her bright blue hair and, of course, her breasts were another reason I would tune in week after week. Sadly though, April 7th of 2003 marked not only the day they finished the English dub for Dragon Ball Z, it was also the day that I stopped partaking in any form of Japanese media for a whole two years. It was 2005, when I was twelve years old, that my old flame for Akira Toriyama's spiky-haired aliens was rekindled as well as when I was introduced to a new kind of flame...
