Well, now, this was a (relatively) classic anime I never particularly thought about getting a live-action movie: Bubblegum Crisis! Six companies, from Singapore, Japan, Australia, Canada, China, and the UK, have come together to co-produce a movie based on Bubblegum Crisis, which is reportedly due out in 2012.

They're basing the movie on the original 8-episode OVA series, not the later additions. I remember checking the originals out from my library when I was a wee lass of 13. Mmmm, delicious nostalgia.

It looks like the project has actually been tentatively in the works since late 2008, when AIC first optioned the rights and teamed up with Singapore's Cubix. The other companies that have since been added on to the project are Axxis from Singapore, Arclight from Australia, Wizzfilms from Canada, Infotainment from China, and Latec International from the UK. (I believe that Axxis is a part of Cubix, or possibly vice-versa.)

Since four of the companies involved are from English-speaking countries, I'm willing to bet they'll be working it as an English-language movie. So let's start dream-casting, shall we? Here's a quick run-down of the main characters, the Knight Sabers. Tell me who you'd cast from Hollywood or abroad to play 'em!
Sylia Stingray – The leader, daughter of the man who created the mech suits the girls fly. A brilliant scientist and wealthy businesswoman who finances the team.

Priss Asagiri – A rock'n'roll singer by day, a mech suit pilot by night. And she rides a motorcycle too. An orphan and former gang member, she has a bad temper and a would-be boyfriend who's a cop.

Nene Romanova – Petite, cute, sweet, with a sweet tooth. She isn't super-useful in combat, but she's the techie of the group and a hacker, as well as a member of the AD Police, acting as a mole for the Knight Sabers.

Linna Yamazaki – A yuppie. Along with Nene, Linna was mostly comic relief, although she occasionally showed a more sensitive side than the superficial serial dating persona she usually puts on. Like Priss, she's an orphan.

Okay. Get casting!

And I still haven't watched the anime yet. I got it and was excited to see it back when Anime World Order reviewed it, but never got around to watching it yet. But its with this like it is with all the other live-action anime movies, I will believe its going to be made when I see a trailer for it as there is no telling it will actually happen until that point where you know they got actors to stand in front of a camera acting from some sort of script. I think this could be good though, if done right... but the same can be said for most anime I guess.

here's my cast for the LA BGC Movie:

Charlize Theron-Sylia. Perfect Super Model looks and I think she can pull it pretty well.

Kristen Dunst or Dakota Fanning as Nene.

I know this is going to be typecast but Mika Nakashima as Priss cause she can pull off the bad ass singer/rocker lol

and as for Linna, possibly Megan Fox lol
