Broken Blade

In Cruzon, children are born with the ability to control quartz. This power allows them to levitate simple objects -- or control enormous and complex mobile battle suits called Golems. But when an ancient Golem is discovered during the height of a brutal war, school friends can turn into bitter enemies and allies have suspicious motives.

Now with two countries thirsting for blood from the other, Hodr prepares to sacrifice himself for the sake of his beloved country, Rygart is desperate for peace, Sigyn prays for the safe return of her dear friends, and Zess is divided with loyalty to his older brother who controls Athen's military and his friendship with Hodr, Sigyn, and especially Rygart.
