Bright Noa is introduced to the Gundam series as a 19 year old Ensign in the Earth Federation. Following the events at Side 7 he would assume command of White Base during the One Year War.

Mobile Suit Gundam
Bright Noa is introduced in the first episode of Mobile Suit Gundam as an officer aboard the new Federation warship, White Base. The events following the White Base's docking at Side 7 would see the ships commander incapacitated in the fighting. Noa takes over command of the ship as a result of being the next ranking officer on the ship. His leadership was often rash upon taking command due to his inexperience. In the series, the ships impromtu pilot, Mirai Yashima, often has to remind Bright of the situation at hand and calm him down.
