Muscular Females (defining muscular)

After seeing the latest additions to the list I suggest we define the requirements for a character to fit in the Muscular Females concept. I think this task would help to keep the list organized. Moreover, is a good way to find a consensus that allow us to avoid additions simply based in each user criteria.

I will start the discussiĆ³n proposing to just add those characters whose muscles are notorious or visually emphasized in the design. There are many female characters in anime described or supposed to be "muscular" but most of the times their design does not reflect this feature, being represented as the typical anime girl.

The level of muscularity and the emphasis on these attributes may vary depending on the artist as illustrated in the following examples:

After agreeing the "rule" for this concept we should proceed to clean the list. Removing those characters that do not meet these characteristics.

@adictoalatrama:

When I was a new editor, I thought adding the Rock Hard Abs was a cool page. Little did I know it complicated things later on. We had so much concept pages floating around. I'll get back to you. When I think of Muscular women, that default image we used is what I imagined.

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. But I still think it would be good if the editors have some sort of guidelines about the concept. Seeing the latest additions makes me think (or realize) that everyone doesn't share the same definition of muscular. Having a list of attributes that fit the concept could be helpfull. Otherwise anyone could add whatever they want and it would be thecnically fine.

@adictoalatrama:

I do agree on having the outline in my original post. The situation is just like the Big Boobs issue. See link.

However, this probably will turn out to be like the Big Boobs page.

You are probably right. I think we could add the definitions in my first post to the concept page, this way editors will have some sort of guideline before submitting their editions.

What about the filtering /cleaning. Should I proceed doing it ?

@adictoalatrama: @takashichea: I think the main issue here is that "Muscular Females" is extreeeemely vague. What qualifies? Toned legs and abs? A six pack? Incredible Hulk muscles?

I think the solution here -- and I've suggested this for the big boobs page in the past -- is to split this concept into proper established tropes that have much clearer guidelines and are more useful in the wiki to begin with. Things like Amazonian Beauty and Brawn Hilda. When users want to make lists of characters that don't fit into those tropes, well, that's what the user list feature is for.

Sound good?

That sounds like a great idea.

We'll change the Muscular Females into Brawn Hilda since most of the images feature really manly women.

Then we'll add Amazonian Beauty which features lean toned women.

Right?

@adictoalatrama:

I probably keep these:

I think we should throw away the first definition, the Lean / Toned.

@adictoalatrama:

Did you add anime screenshots to the Anime Art Gallery for the previously Muscular Female gallery?

What counts as anime art is official artwork from magazines and posters. I'll rename the anime gallery to anime screenshots to avoid confusion.

@Daniel_Newton: That sounds pretty good. I think is a nice way to specify and separate the attributes of the characters.

: I agree. Let's keep those two definitions. Each one in it's specific article.

@adictoalatrama:

Oh cool! You should check out the Amazonian Beauty thread. We need a tie breaker or more votes.

Why was the concept renamed Brawn Hilda? It's not something easily searchable. Muscular is the first word people think of, not brawn.

@YotaruVegeta:

I just realized I screwed up the page because it was originally Muscular Women. It had episode and volume counts before I change the name.

Besides that, we changed it because muscular is a vague term as Daniel noted. I could put muscular in the alias, so it can easily searchable.
