Bossun News

Bossun is a anime/manga character in the Sket Dance franchise
| |

Welcome to the Sket Dance weekly report! I'm Takashichea, and this is the final episode of the anime. 77 weeks had pass or so, and this anime was one of the best in my opinion.

Plot

While Bossun and the Sket Dan are helping the basketball team due to Jogasaki's little accident, Saaya works up the courage to confess to Bossun. Meanwhile, Sojiro thinks Saaya is still in love with Tsubaki.

Can Bossun and the gang help the basketball team and what will happened between Saaya and Bossun?

Watch this show legally on Crunchyroll.

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

Teppei and Jogasaki
Teppei and Jogasaki
  • Being the final episode, everyone except Queccion, Enigman, and a few others appear for the last time.
  • Seeing Teppei and Jogasaki getting along and working together in the basketball team brings closure to the two. In the first episode, Teppei was bullied by Jogasaki, and on the last episode, we get to see their past.
  • With Sojiro's usual misunderstanding of Saaya, Saaya finally confessed to Bossun about her feelings for him.

Bad

Too many characters that add nothing new
Too many characters that add nothing new
  • It's a bit awkward to have the last episode end with Saaya's confession.
  • Faithfulness to the manga: I'm not up to speed with the manga like you guys, and I know that the anime has neglected a few key scenes by messing with the chronological order of the manga's story.
  • It wouldn't hurt to see the basketball or more of Momoka's singing since the filler just padded Saaya's love confession chapter with Saaya's observation of Bossun and the gang working hard.
  • The training and Switch with Otakura and Reiko's scene didn't add anything interesting stuff.

Overall, it was a good episode, and for fans of Saaya, you'll love this one. With so much supporting characters appearing, it's difficult to give them attention. They just serve as padding material for Saaya's confession part. The basketball request is nice to have since it sheds light on two minor characters, but the other scenes lack humor or anything new/interesting to add.

Thanks

Thank you everyone for reading the Sket Dance Weekly report. I hope you enjoyed the series. As for wiki progress, I just need to work with Anime Vice and Sket Dance Wikia to complete the episode wiki pages.

Plot

Hello everyone and welcome to the Weekly Sket Dance report! Last week's episode is pretty random humor, and for this week's episode, we get down to business with one of the new characters, Kiri Kato. In this episode, we get to know his back story.

When Mimori tries to calm down Morita, Kiri shows up suddenly on Morita's shoulders. This causes Morita to throw a chair at Mimori, but Sasuke protects her. After Sasuke's talk with Kiri, Himeko asks Kiri to hang out with her, and she learns about Kiri's past. Later, someone from Kiri's past shows up, and Kiri snaps when that person causes Hime to cry.

Can Bossun and the gang stop Kiri's quest for justice before he crosses the line?

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

Kiri - the ninja of justice
Kiri - the ninja of justice
  • Kiri's character shines in this episode. He, Tsubaki, and Himeko are a lot alike. He could not help Kihara back then, and he tries to atone for his actions by making Kutsuwa apologize to Hime and Kihara. I enjoy Kiri's character.
  • The episode meshes flashbacks well without interrupting the flow.
  • For the fans who support Hime and Kiri, this episode is excellent for you.

Bad

  • Anime vs Manga: For those who read the manga, the episode covers a bit of chapter 157, but it skips Bossun's reaction when he sees Himeko and Kiri together. (I thank Balthierfan for pointing out that chapter.) I'm sure they'll cover it. It's an important part that shouldn't be neglected. (Thank you Utipintar and Anonymous Editor for pointing it out)

For those who read the manga, the episode covers a bit of chapter 157, but it skips Bossun's reaction when he sees Himeko and Kiri together. I'm sure they'll cover it. Also, I like how the anime alter one scene where Tsbuaki protects Mimori. Overall, the episode is great.

Thanks

Welcome to the weekly Sket Dance blog! This week's episode is a bit of morbid episode for Sojiro fans because he and Shinba are graduation. The story in Sket Dance is moving on.

Plot

The torch has passed from Sojiro to Sasuke who is new president. Being anxious, Sasuke starts being strict with the rules until Sojiro has a man to man talk with Sasuke. He tells him that he has his friends as his support. Later, a stranger calls Sojiro and threatens to hurt Saaya if Sojiro does not solve the four puzzles that he has set up.

Will Sojiro save his little sister, Saaya?!

Verdict

Beware of Spoilers!

Good

Otsukare "Great Job!"
Otsukare "Great Job!"
  • Despite that Sojiro is a minor character, he helps mold Sasuke and Bossun. He's an unforgettable character with a unique laugh and a sheer devotion to protect his sister. I just like how he thinks his sister is twisting the hearts of Bossun and Sasuke.
  • Bossun's farewell ceremony is pure genius! I loved how he set up Sojiro who showed why he is the president the first place. I hope to see those two battling each other in a game of wits.

Bad

  • There is not much bad things about this episode, but he is a character for comic relief just like the others: Moe and Enigman. Unlike Sojiro, he didn't change much.

Overall, this episode is great, and the puzzles can be confusing. We had a special ending with a slower version, Sekai wa Okujō de Miwataseta, and a compilation of the Kaimei Student Council.

Plot

Welcome to the weekly Sket Dance report! I'm Taka, and I see my partner is submitting the Quick Picks in the activity feed. I have to post this before BigHeart711 does as an empty blog then edit it. Sorry for the inconvenience. It's a pride thing. I want people to see BigHeart711's blog on the top.

Bossun struggles to get to the restroom to finish his business, but someone or something keeps getting in his way as he tries to find a toilet. Can Bossun fulfill his "duty" before he embarrasses himself?

When Shinba and Sojiro are going to graduate, their postions are up for grabs, and the student council are going to do a manga ad. Sasuke asks Bossun for help since he has no artistic skills. Will Bossun and the gang make an awesome manga ad using Tsubaki's lame hero?

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

Bossun flashes his neighbor
Bossun flashes his neighbor
  • Sket Dance's first story involves a lot of crude humor. It's based on fans' preferences if they enjoyed this Gintama style humor. I'm a bit wishy washy. There were good moments, and some were just plain nasty. The best part is where Bossun flashes his neighbor by accident. What was your favorite moment in this bizarre story?
  • It's another manga quest, and I love it since it has the same Roman's randomness but with a Bossun twist. It's funny that everyone relies on Bossun's artistic skills. There are so many bad artists in this show.
  • It was tough to do a stitched cap for Bossun. The lighting is strange. This is best I can do.

Bizarre

Sasuke approves!
Sasuke approves!
  • Since I don't have any bad stuff to report and I'm a damn softie, I'll cover some bizarre moments.
  • Sasuke has some crazy ideas for his hero. It looks like an Alien.
  • They showed Bossun's intestines. It's a bit too much.
  • Finally, Sasuke goes from cat to dog.

Overall, this episode is very funny and enjoyable if you can tolerate the potty jokes. The second half is reminiscent to Roman's wacky manga adventures.

Thanks

Hey everyone! Welcome to the weekly Sket Dance, and boy, the week's going by too fast. I still look forward to Sket Dance every week among other new summer anime shows. For me, it fills the gap of Gintama with the help of Binbogami ga! anime series.

Plot

Tsubaki's hobby is making original T-shirt designs, but when his fellow Student Council members proclaim them "lame", he goes to his twin brother Bossun for a shot of creative advice. Then, Bossun's love for a robot anime leads him to an otaku meet-up. Will he be able to fit in?

Via Crunchyroll

Verdict

Beware of spoilers!

Good

Bossun is artistic, but he gets bashful easily
Bossun is artistic, but he gets bashful easily
  • This episode shows another quirky hobby of Sasuke and it reveals how much different he is from Bossun who is very artistic. Though, it got me thinking about the theory of left and right brain. I don't believe in that over which side governs artistic, logic, and other stuff. The reason that I thought about this is because Bossun and Sasuke's Kanji means right and left, respectively.
  • Sorry for being off-tangent, I loved how Himeko gets so excited that Bossun and Tsubaki are getting along. Some fans have a dirty mind about what was Hime doing as she eavesdrop on Sasuke and Bossun from the outside. It adds to the humor.
  • Finally, the episode did a good job on merging two separate manga chapters by revealing what common traits the two twin brothers shared.

Bad

  • There's not much bad stuff. Though, the halves of the episodes are not equal because we all have different preferences. I find the first half with Sasuke more better. What was your favorite story in this episode?

Overall, the episode is good. There are some humorous scenes that makes episode enjoyable for every Sket Dan fan. Yet, the 2 story type episodes can be unequal with some folks loving the first part while some love the 2nd part. I say it's about equal to last week's episode where one part just didn't click with me.

Welcome to weekly Sket Dance report! I couldn't fit the full name of the episode, He's Interested in the Sister and the Brother's Interested in Him. If you guys and gals have a suggestion for the title of this report, feel free to drop a comment. I'm not that creative with titles.

Plot

When Shinba Michiru mentions that Saaya and Sasuke are close, Sojiro thinks they are a couple. He decides to investigate to protect his little sister, and Saaya thinks Sojiro knows about her crush on Bossun.

Will Sojiro find out about Saaya's crush?!

Verdict

Good

The two Tsundere meet each other
The two Tsundere meet each other
  • Ah! It's another hilarious episode that revolves around misunderstandings and romance. I love how this episode show more of Saaya and Sojiro's relationship. For the first time, Sojiro is the funny guy in the show.
  • It's Tsundere day when Saaya and Tsubaki get acquainted with each other. Saaya is very curious about how Tsubaki is getting along with Bossun. I find their interaction interesting and how the two blush a lot.
  • To add to the hysteria in this episode, Tsubaki is oblivious to what's going on between Sojiro, Saaya, and Bossun.

Bad

Show me the parents!
Show me the parents!
  • I wished they show Saaya and Sojiro's parents. I wonder if Saaya's mom looks like Saaya and vice versa for Sojiro's dad. That was pretty much it.

Points of Interest

Mario Kart Reference
Mario Kart Reference
  • Kudos to the guys and gals who caught the Mario Kart reference. I caught it on the second time when I doing wiki work for AV.
  • Strangely enough, Sojiro didn't go "Ka, Ka, Ka!"

Overall, this episode is great and it's not a request based episode. It's a refreshing change while it introduces more of Sojiro and Saaya's relationship. I bet you guys and gals would love the episode if you're a Sojiro fan.

Welcome everyone to the Weekly Sket Dance report! The week is flying fast, and we have another lovely episode of Sket Dance that concludes the awkward yet hysterical School Rhapsody arc.

Plot

While the Sket Dan and their classmates are enjoying their field trip on the ski resort, Bossun and Himeko's body switch is not a secret with Shinzo and Reiko who figure it out on their own. As Himeko goes with Moe for a photoshoot, Switch gets distracted with Reiko and Sasuke, and Saaya asks Bossun (Himeko) to have a chat with her in private.

How would Bossun (Himeko) answer Saaya's question about how Bossun feels about Himeko?

Verdict

Good

Will they stay as friends?
Will they stay as friends?
  • Interestingly, Shinzo and Reiko figure out Himeko and Bossun's little secret while Otakura and Reiko think Switch and Saaya are a pair. Speaking of Switch, Himeko suspects Switch likes Momoka. We got tons of shipping moments.
  • Saaya has an incredible character evolution, and her scene reveals how much she loves Sket Dan and Bossun for helping her.
  • Quest Dance is a funny short. When I saw slime Bossun, I immediately thought Dragon Monster Warrior or Dragon Quest video game.

Bad

  • Over Dramatization: I find the Niigata dropping scene too much.
  • Hit or Miss with Manga fans: Fans of the manga might like the scenes in the manga better because it gets to the point without the extended scenes and Saaya's added flashback. I don't mind Saaya's flashback.

Overall, this episode is great, and everyone would love most of it. Though, I find Biscuit Dance, the best of all the shorts. Quest Dance is good, but the Super Mariko Broken did a better job in parodying video games.

Quest Dance Gallery

Here's a gallery of the characters. Please enjoy.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Weekly Sket Dance report! Now, we're in an arc called School Trip Rhapsody where Bossun and Himeko have switched bodies during a school field trip to Niigata. Who knows what embarrassing things await Bossun and Himeko.

Plot

With Himeko and Bossun's body switched, things get tense when their female classmates asks Himeko (Bossun) to change or to take a bath, and Bossun (Himeko)'s help is making things worse. Meanwhile, Switch is keeping an eye out for Saaya, Sasuke is acting like a cat, and Chuma is making a cure for Bossun and Himeko. Can the two bear each other's burden despite sheer embarrassment?

Don't forget to check out the wiki page and its image gallery!

Verdict

Good

Himeko: I know you'll touch them, right?
Himeko: I know you'll touch them, right?
  • There are tons of hilarious moments in this episode. Tsubaki is now acting like a cat because he took the hypno drug while the cat meowed at him. It explains why Bossun is cat boy in the opening.
  • In Bossun's body, Himeko's answers has make Bossun's reputation go down when she blurts that she wants to see Himeko's body naked in the bath. Saaya gets upset. Plus, I find Bossun's reaction to Himeko's request hilarious when she wants Bossun to touch them.
  • Roman and Reiko are nice surprises with their scenes. Reiko thinks Switch is stalking Saaya while Roman finds out that Bossun and Himeko switched bodies.

Bad

Airing the toilet scene might be a bit too naughty for kids
Airing the toilet scene might be a bit too naughty for kids
  • Hit or Miss: I watched the episode twice and read some comments from fans on Crunchyroll. After Roman breaks the 4th wall, the creator tells the audiences that he cannot air the changing and bathroom scenes because we have a young audience. For me, the changing scene does not seem too bad, but the bathroom scene is hard. Once you read the chapter, you learn that Himeko and Bossun help each use the toilet. If that scene is in the anime, you would hear urinating sounds.
  • Pointless Fan Service: Mimori's bouncing breasts and the Kuramoto's bath scenes seems out of place. I enjoyed Daisy's scene where she rips Tsubaki's cat ears off. Sket Dance is an anime that doesn't need fan service to boost ratings. Fan Service should be for more adult shows.

Overall, the episode is great for everyone, but the missing manga scenes can be a nuisance to those who wished to see it animated. The preview sounds exciting when Himeko asks Bossun what he would say to Saaya's question. I hope Saaya's heart won't break in the next episode.
