Bon Clay was once Mr. 2 of the mysterious Baroque Works. Now a stead fast ally of Monkey D. Luffy. He ate the Mane-Mane Fruit and has the ability to mimic the face and body of anyone his right hand touches.
Wild and eccentric, Mr. 2 Bon Clay was the loudest member of the mysterious Baroque Works, the organization established by the former Shichibukai Crocodile in order to send the Kingdom of Alabasta in chaos so that he could rise to power as the new king. Trained in the deadly martial art known as "Okama Kempo", and with the ability to change his form to match anyone, his status as a higher up was definitely appropriate, though his insane antics wear thin on everyone around him.
He's the only higher up that lacks a companion of the same rank. Possibly because he believes he is both male and female, probably due to his powers and lifestyle as a self proclaimed okama, despite never actually wearing women's clothing besides the make up smeared on his face. He is assigned both a number and a holiday for his code name.
Despite being an assassin, the number one thing he puts above all others is friendship. So much so that he went out of his way to aid what remained of the Baroque Works after their crushing defeat, and even more so the Straw Hat Pirates, his initial enemies who DEFEATED his organization in the first place.
Bon Clay was originally created by Eiichiro Oda for use in the One Piece manga, and it is not fully known as to what inspired his creation. Bon Clay first appears in both One Piece: Volume 15 and in One Piece #78.

Bon Clay, known better as Mr. 2 of Baroque Works at the time he appears, is introduced midway through the Baroque Works Saga. He's sent by Crocodile to kill the "failed" Mr. 3. With his target nowhere to be found on Little Garden, he sets back to Alabasta to help out with the master plan, but accidentally crosses paths with the Straw Hats. Not knowing that they're supposed to be enemies, he makes quick friends of the crew, even revealing his shape shifting powers to them. After saying his goodbyes, he returns to his mission to impersonate the king of Alabasta and create enough civil unrest to spark a terrible civil war.
As the Straw Hats appear in Alabasta in order to stop Crocodile's plan from enveloping the country in a brutal civil war in a ploy to rise to power, Mr. 2 goes toe to toe with Sanji, whom he didn't meet during his short time on the Going Merry.
Mr. 2 gains the upperhand when he uses Sanji's lechery against him by taking the form of Nami, whom Sanji can't get himself to harm. However, the tide changes when Sanji realizes that Mr. 2 can only use his special attacks when he's in his true form, leading to him winning despite his weakness. Defeated, the battered Mr. 2 falls to the wayside as the Straw Hats continue in their struggle to stop Crocodile and the remaining members of the Baroque Works organization. Within hours of Sanji's victory over Bon Clay, Monkey D. Luffy manages to defeat Crocodile after a brutal struggle with the future and freedom of Alabasta on the line inside of the underground catacombs under the city.
After the Straw Hats save the country and it's people from Baroque Work's wicked plans, Bon Clay shows the awesome strength of his friendship with the Straw Hats by having him and his crew get captured by the Marines after masquerading as the Straw Hats, helping the real crew and ship escape. Now in Marine custody, Bon Clay is sentenced to spend the rest of his days at the formidable Impel Down, the world's most infamous prison where pirates and criminals of all types are held.
During their botched escape attempt which is plagued with terrible luck, Buggy the Clown and Mr. 3 come across where Bon Clay is being imprisoned in the 3rd Level of Impel Down, known to most as the Starvation Hell. Released from his cell, Bon Clay teams up with his old friend Luffy and together they face off against the forces of Chief Jailor Saldeath, who is tasked with stopping Luffy's progress and ending their escape attempt. After dealing with Saldeath, Bon Clay and Luffy encounter the dangerous Minotaurus, which Luffy manages to defeat with his powerful Jet Bazooka attack. They are rejoined by the panicing Buggy and Mr. 3, who are being closely chased by the enraged Minotaurus, which has recovered from the beating Luffy inflicted upon it. Teaming up and utilizing their Devil Fruit powers, the four of them manage to K.O the brutish Minotaurus once and for all, but the damage to the floor causes it to collapse, sending them crashing down into the 4th Level of Impel Down, known as the Inferno Hell.
