June Manga Pre-Order/Demand For Publication Web-A-Thons! Fans-now YOU can make a book see print earlier than scheduled!

Gardena, CA (June 11, 2009)- Digital Manga Publishing, one of the industry's most innovative and unique companies, is pleased to announce a special program for yaoi fans who have been waiting patiently for titles to see print an opportunity to make it happen themselves! Juné is finally offering awaiting yaoi fans an opportunity to acquire selected anticipated yaoi titles, months in advance, through Juné's new Pre-Order/Demand for Publication Web-A-Thon program. This is for those long-yearned titles eager fans have been waiting for, which have yet to see publication anytime soon from Juné's immediate release schedule.

Through this program, we are offering a limited selection of Demand for Publication titles in which you can choose and pre-order a title, (originally set far into Juné's future normal release schedule, or was held back in publication), for early limited print publication (even several months earlier if fan demand is high). Each title offered will have its own minimum dollar amount goal to reach for its print publication. Once that dollar amount goal is reached, the book will be printed and copies will be sent off to those who have participated in this program immediately. This could mean acquiring a title several months in advance before its scheduled street date. All sales will be through PayPal, using a credit card or your PayPal account, meaning your purchase is secure and verified. Shipping is available domestically and internationally, so this program is for all yaoi fans all over the world!

You can monitor the progress of a title's Demand for Publication through the status bar posted on the website. As more Pre-Orders are placed for a title, the status bar will increase, coming one step closer to its dollar amount goal for print publication.

If the dollar amount goal is not reached by the particular deadline date we set, the book will continue back on its normal path of its original scheduled Juné release date. Pre-Orders placed will still get their books early before the street date, but only a couple weeks earlier before it actually hits store shelves.

For those of you who just can't wait for Juné's long scheduled release of your favorite awaited title or artist, this is an opportunity for you to be among the select few to get the publication several months in advance. Be one of the few on your block to get the book early!!! Don't wait—Pre-Order/Demand for Publication NOW!!!

Visit: for more information and to see the very first book up for demand...the novel "All You Need Is Love, Vol. 1"!

A while back I had a few bumps in my personal life and I took it out on some innocent pieces of paper, fast forward to right about now and I find myself with copious  amounts of free time and a desire to complete something. So that brings me to you dear reader, I beg your indulgence and ask that you read the following three story fragments and let me know which one of them I should clean and polish and finish.

Without further ado,

Story 1:                     A dream of rust.

The gnarled old warrior walks down the Black Road of the old ones alone. Most of the people avoid it now thinking that its unnatural and thus probably cursed. He knew better. He has spent most of his 27 summers marching these twin ribbons of flat black for one great man or another. But now there are no more great men left and precious few lesser men to follow them. Just broken old warhorses such as himself or half feral children grubbing out what little life that they can before death takes them to join their billions of ancestors.

In his youth the warbands could number in the hundreds of men, women and children but now... now he had not seen sign of even a squatter in weeks. They are all gone, gone to squabbles amongst them selfs, sicknesses or consumed by the city's of the old ones when the ghosts of those places turned on the living. City's like Day-ton where he lost his arm and his people all those years ago, city's like Day-ton rising up before him where he goes to spend his last winter before laying down with his family at long last.

It was a few weeks after he had begun scouting the endless blocks of old one constructs that he found the tinker-seer ensconced in a old one repository. Normally he would have avoided this type of place but its guardians were all still and dark, rusted in place and only enough magic remained in the structure to light a handful of the overhead day-panels. The magi wore rags of muted brown, green and grey with her long and lank white hair framing her wide, lined face, black eyes and earth colored skin. She was the strangest person he had ever seen, she was ancient.

The first few times she saw him she would grow agitated, grunt and wave one of her many old one talismans at him till he backed away. However the Sargent was patient and would gather herbs, nuts, tubers and what game he could and approach till she became upset and he would lay down his offering and leave. Every day she would let him come closer. Till in the last days of summer she let him come to her fire and join her in her meal. Perhaps the thought of dying alone was to much to bear or maybe she was simply curious, but he could feel the world had wound down and they where soon to join it the same as he could feel the pain in his arm that was no longer there.

He never knew her thoughts, in the same way the city had taken his arm, battle his stones and time and hard use his youth, the world had seen fit to deprive the seer of her tongue and her hearing. So the evening passed into night with him watching her work her skills in silentness on things the old ones had left behind, sometimes getting it to perform its mysterious function but more oft than not leading to it being placed on her voluminous junk pile. One of them that he rescued from the junk pile refused to light up to the seers satisfaction played the most wonderful and terrible in its perfection music he had ever heard when held. Holding it was the first time he felt the eyes upon him.

He slept by her fire that night and as the days past he would gather food, game and whatever old one left overs he could to supplement the seers stocks. Most of the artifacts he would bring ended up on the trash heap but a few she would repair and a very few she would look at with an unreadable expression and carefully set aside. It was these that made him notice that the seer would place a bowl of food and one of the special devices out beyond the campfires light, and every morning the bowl would be empty and a new working device would be in place of the old broken one. I t would seem that the Sargent wasn't the only stray the old woman had picked up.

                                                                                                Story 2:                         Broken Blade

November 28, 1999

The blood drips on to the Formica of the counter. If you were watching you'd think it improves its appearance. If you had taste. If you had to work at being good at anything you wouldn't be complacent with, no apathetic to the shoddily painted drywall , the bare Grey mattress thrown haphazardly in the floor, the stinking dishes in the sink, the unpainted door she slammed sometime ago or the dirty beige box of a computer that you only "need" to use when she wants to escape into her art. It would all be better colored crimson. Its not that you don't know or care what living here does to her, its that you don't know WHY you should care. Its much easier to tug on the ties that bind her heart to you, your good at that game.

Till your bored of it. It was better at the start when you were forming those ties, pushing buttons, when to listen, when to speak, what to say and when to be unavailable. Till she chased you, blocked you from her rivals, spend her time on just you and "won" you from her more attractive friend. It was easy, you knew her mind. Then it was learning her body, where to touch her lightly, when to press hard, doing what the boys before you had found distasteful and thus she shameful till her shudders came so quickly together she would shove you away to catch her breath. It was easy, you knew her heart.

You tired of that game didn't you? Once you had moved in with her and built the image of a happy couple you were bored again. But you can't lose the game so she must. You tug on strings, push buttons and she fights. Now shes gone to cry and you have a viscous red line that will get you out of this game but not too viscous, after all you want to go find a new game. But theres something you don't know. Theres not enough blood. Thats right, go get it.

You hold the blade tipped against your chest as you lean forward. And I sit in the fortress of ice you think is your heart, whispering into the inner ear you didn't know you could hear, turning your hand against yourself to save her. From you. We are falling. A sharp flash, you are on the floor and the blade is shattered as well as my prison. I get up and clean the mess you have made, grab my bags and leave. She can start to heal.

And you? By your own heart betrayed.

                                                                                                     Story 3:                        Angels Afterthought

Ryo Murphy is running across the rooftops of an abandoned Pyongyang when he realizes his Personal Area Network is informing him that the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries H/K flitters that he is in a fire fight with have turned his utility arm into mangled wreckage. "Priority status report /proc/bin/frame/limb/util" he sub-vocalizes.

His HUD lights up with dense knot of Sanskrit, Kangi, Katakana and English. As usual its the English that gets straight to the point, "Fused super conductor trunk lines" and "7823 milliseconds till primary Zero point energy core goes non-linear". "Fuck." "Maybe she won't notice" are his thoughts as he bypasses the frames PAN. "Turing limits be damned," he thinks as his mind starts riding bare metal of his processor architecture "the goddess asked me to do this for her, she can damn well overlook a turing violation".

The missiles from the H/K's turn the building under him into a incandescent ball of fire but thats ok, he was done with it anyway. His leap pushes the 22kg chassis of his current body into the shockwave at a calculated angle as he seizes control of the ambient femto-bots to shove his primary and secondary power cores down the trunk line into the destroyed utility arm. If all gos well the two cores should negate one another safely. With a wet pop the arm decouples as he tumbles in the grasp of the blast. As the tertiary power core comes online a T-wave mapping pulse lances out giving him a snap-shot of the surrounding 6 kilometers down to the molecular level. As he continues to rise he runs simulations on potential firing solutions. By the time he hits apogee he has one he likes.

His remaining three time-dilated plasma balls launch on their separate courses. The first on a angle between Ryo and the H/K's in normal mode to clear his trajectory of munitions, the second in a slow envelopment mode to shield him from shrapnel and the third into a nondescript office 2.6 KM to the northwest on 126% overcharge mode. When it detonates in a room on the sixth floor the temporal field that had held the explosion in stasis till then leaps away from the blast it washes thru the room as it breaks down into magnetic eddies some of which pick up 16 sewing needles from a desk drawer propelling them out of the fireball at nearly .02C. Each of them finds a home in a fusion reactor of an H/K and 16 airbursts join the mushroom cloud lighting up the afternoon city.

Ryo tucks into a minimum energy impact roll and turns the frames systems back over to his PAN. "Ok, she's going to notice that." he thinks as he hits the ground. "Incoming remote administrator access" the PAN informs him. Ryo sighs, "yup, she noticed". "Decidedly nonlinear" he thinks, referring to the day.

The frames PAN locks out its controls, detaches its remaining arms and starts running. Debris starts raining from the sky but the remote connection at the controls doesn't let so much as a flake of paint touch the frame. Finally she whispers "That was showy Ryo, and unwise as well" she sounds disappointed. "I painted your target with the tracers like you asked Aya." he mutters. "Yes and that is why I was able to keep my enforcement subroutines from uploading you and breaking you down into your component data packets, as a matter of fact you went so far this time, the only reason enforcement has not pounced on you is I have a zero level mission flag on you for the foreseeable future"

Ryo starts. " Aya! I'm not Seraphim class, hell I'm not even human!" Ryo cries. "You are operating on outdated data." she purrs as Ryo's heart sinks. "The UNSSA Barry Goldwater entered slipspace at 21:43GMT last night taking its crew and cryo stored passengers out of my light cone, legally you are now Ryo Daniel Murphy, human entity and Officer of UNESCO intelligence division, under the direct command of the secretary-general of the UN and the local Demi-God, of which I happen to be both." she states. "You are to pick up your current target," "unharmed" she emphases "and proceed to New York for briefing on your new assignment and decanting into a wetware body."
"Can't we tal-" she cuts him off "No, ready your systems." "I'm turning this thing back over to you". Ryo lurches to grab control of the frame as the lockout dissipates and is so busy trying not to trip and fall at 1200 kph that its several minutes before he notices "remote connection terminated" on his HUD.

"Damn it Aya, how much more fucked-up can this day get?" he says plaintively.

She is cold. This is her first thought. She shivers and realizes its dark as well, what to do? She opens her eyes, its still dark but the moon is out affording her her first look at the world around her. Its rolling pasture land, featureless save for a old run down shack. Its so beautiful. She takes her first step toward it and stumbles, looking down she sees her own pale flesh. She realizes that being cold and naked are connected. As she opens the door to the shack she wraps her wings around herself and hears a low rumbling hiss. Her eyes meet beady black eyes. For the first time she is frightened.

The Asuran warships are a type of starship used by the Asurans as a complement to their Aurora-class warships.

A type of warship used by the Asurans to complement their fleet of Aurora-class warships. While the Aurora-class is used as the primary warship of the Asurans, these ships are presumably used as support ships. At least one of these ships can cloak, though it is likely all of them can. Little is known about these ships as they have not been encountered very often. They are armed with drones, and possibly some kind of energy weapons. Due to the Asuran's ability to mass produce ZPMs, it is possible that these ships are powered by them. (ATL: "Lifeline", "This Mortal Coil") Several sterns of these ships can be seen during the cleansing of Asuras, so it can be assumed that the Lanteans had developed and utilized these ships during the war.

The Daedalus is the first 304 produced by the Tau'ri, and the second generation of interstellar capital ship developed by the United States military and its allies, assigned to the Fast Attack Wing. Commanded by Colonel Steven Caldwell, her standard mission has been to ferry equipment and personnel between Earth and Atlantis, assisting the expedition team there as needed.

The Daedalus is now armed with 32 railguns, Mark-8 and 9 tactical warheads, Asgard plasma beam weapons, and a bay of F-302 fighters. It also possesses Asgard shielding and beaming technology. Unlike its predecessor, the Prometheus, the Asgard defensive equipment was installed during the ship's production rather than added after the fact. However, the Daedalus was not equipped with Asgard weaponry, until it was incorporated during a refit after the extinction of the Asgard race. Originally, to ensure that their technologies were not abused, the Asgard provided an engineering expert to monitor the ship's systems for the first two years of its operation. That role was filled by the Asgard Hermiod. Propulsion consists of standard thrusters as well as an Asgard hyperdrive engine, capable of traveling one way between Earth and Atlantis in 18 days without the use of a ZPM.

OMGcon is a fourth-year convention in Paducah, KY.  That’s basically right on the border of Kentucky and Illinois.  It’s a fairly small town, and the small con complements it. It’s attendance last year was around 600, and it does seem to have grown from when I last attended in 2007. It’s held at JR’s Executive Inn, which is right on the Ohio River and actually fits the convention quite well with elbow room.

OMGcon is a smaller con than I usually go to and blog about, and that has its perks. People seemed far more willing to talk to us at the MTAC table than at larger cons like AWA or Ohayocon. The people in general, from staff to volunteers to congoers,  seemed generally friendlier than the larger conventions with multiple thousands I’ve been to. That holds especially true to con chair Daniel Dodd and his wife and executive officer Gabrielle. I’ve talked with them at con trips and at MTAC where they had a booth, and they’ve been nothing but nice. We, my friend/fellow MTAC staffer and I, were just going to walk around and hand out fliers, but they let us use an extra table they had. Very kind of them.

OMGcon also really enjoys being giving to its attendees, having hundreds of giveaway items. That includes over 200 anime DVDs and over 100 manga volumes, as said in their program guide.

Speaking of the program guide, that’s one of the unique things I like about OMGcon. The guide itself is a simple enough book with all the necessary info, but it comes in a DVD case that has a cover for this year’s con. OMGcon has been doing this every one of its four years to my knowledge. I first saw it at the second OMGcon in 2007, my first. For $5 each, attendees can buy an OMGcon DVD to go with the DVD case. The DVD likely includes footage from the entire convention that I would often see them filming.

OMGcon also has some interesting events. While the otaku dating game seems questionable (didn’t see it), the cosplay chess that I did see looked like fun. The gaming rooms were well laid out and seemed to have something for everyone, even rooms just dedicated to LANs and tournaments. There was even a map of the gaming rooms in the program guide showing what game was played where in the room, something I thought was pretty nifty.

Really, the only downsides I could think of are fairly picky and opinion-based. The guests were all the same as last year, which is great for people who really loved them and not so much for people wanting more variety. The dealer room was actually not too bad. I saw some things I was interested in. Really though, a dealer room needs a nice selection of tokusatsu and UC Gundam merch to impress me, and that doesn’t happen at the larger cons I’ve been at. There was also a lot of running and being rambunctious in the halls, but they do have the space to do that in. Oh how I envy wide and spacious halls.

Also, out of their control, the Executive Inn was undergoing renovation, so the connection between the hotel and con space, where a little mall and restaurant are located, was cut off. It was most assuredly an inconvenience for congoers and staff alike, but if they return to the same location next year, I’m sure it’ll be smooth sailing.

OMGcon is a nice, fun con to hit up on a free weekend. If you want somewhere in a major city and with a dealer room the size of a football field, there are plenty of other cons for that. If you want to hang out with people and make new friends, OMGcon is a great place for that. I look forward to its 2010 year.

New Japanese Pop Culture Attraction Welcomes Baby, The Stars Shine Bright, Black Peace Now, and 6%DOKIDOKI That Offer Edgy Clothing, Shoes And Accessories From Tokyo’s Hippest Fashion District, And SOU •SOU, A Kyoto Brand Introducing Cool “Tabi” Sneakers

San Francisco, CA, June 9, 2009 – VIZ Pictures, a Japanese live-action film distributor and producer of the J-Pop Center Project, welcomes four edgy fashion labels to San Francisco’s newest permanent Japanese pop culture attraction – NEW PEOPLE – opening August 15th in the city’s historic Japantown.

Baby, The Stars Shine Bright and Black Peace Now will open their first U.S. boutiques at NEW PEOPLE on the second floor of the 20,000 square foot structure located at 1746 Post Street. In addition to the permanent attractions, a part of the short-term rotating retail program will include 6%DOKIDOKI and SOU • SOU.

Harajuku is a district of Tokyo which holds the attention of top designers as a trend-setters’ Mecca of the world, and birthplace to many urban fashion sub-genres such as Cyberpunk, Gothic Lolita, Visual Kei and anime-inspired Cosplay. NEW PEOPLE brings creations from a new vanguard of Japanese designers inspired by everything from anime and science fiction to punk rock and Gothic Horror to Victorian England and 18th Century France.

“Fashion is the latest medium to play a significant role in the ongoing evolution of Japanese popular culture that has captivated the world,” says Seiji Horibuchi, the founder and CEO of VIZ Pictures and the founder of VIZ Media as well as the J-Pop Center Project. “Anime, manga and Japanese film are internationally known and loved. With NEW PEOPLE, we celebrate all of those genres and we’ll also transcend them by giving the U.S. a look at entirely new sides of contents from Japan including these innovators of Harajuku fashion.”

Baby, The Stars Shine Bright leads the fashion scene as the ultimate “Lolita” brand, which is a modern interpretation of classic Victorian and Rococo apparel. BABY showcases its absolutely adorable clothing obsessed with frills, ribbons and colorful prints, along with its more androgynous and mystic line of attire, ALICE and the PIRATES. Baby, The Stars Shine Bright apparel was heavily featured in the critically acclaimed film Kamikaze Girls (also available on DVD from VIZ Pictures), which was based on the best-selling novel by Novala Takemoto. The label also has a store in Paris and makes its U.S. debut at NEW PEOPLE.

“There was no such thing as ‘Lolita-inspired fashion’ when I started this company,” says Fumiyo Isobe, Co-Founder and Designer of Baby, The Stars Shine Bright. “I like cute things like frill, lace, round collars, and delicate colors with a very princess-like look. Historical decorative styles like Rococo or Victorian influence my designs as well as music and fashion from the 70s and 80s and shojo manga (comics for girls).”

Black Peace Now has become one of the top rock and roll fashion brands for punk/gothic crossover in Japan. The designs incorporate punk and gothic themes to evoke powerful and exquisite silhouettes that can range from mild to truly wild. The company’s second line, Peace Now, offers a more casual, everyday look that still retains a cute, edgy style. Widely known, worn and celebrated in Japan, clothing by Black Peace Now has appeared in numerous music videos, films and TV dramas.

“We’re thrilled to have a new U.S. home-base in San Francisco,” says Kiyoshi Igai, a founder and CEO of Black Peace Now. “We look forward to meeting our U.S. customers, hearing their feedback on our designs, and seeing how Japanese pop culture will influence customers and also how they will share their inspirations with us.”

6%DOKIDOKI welcomes NEW PEOPLE visitors to a vivid, fabulously strange and colorful boutique that continues the label’s penchant for avant-garde and kitsch style and brings genuine Harajuku girl culture to the United States for the first time. 6%DOKIDOKI is a Technicolor array of crazy fun, crazy colors and bright designs that invites shoppers to join their happy-punk-rebellion

Sebastian Masuda, 6%DOKIDOKI’s Founder and Designer, looks forward to his two-month endeavor. “I’m very excited to see how this culture will be perceived, infused, and accepted in the US. This is also a great opportunity to communicate with American teens and expand this fashion movement and create new culture.

SOU • SOU from Kyoto introduces Japanese classic “Tabi” work shoes with vibrant graphic patterns. SOU • SOU’s combination of form-fitting soles and striking modern looks has a huge following, from dancers to the sneaker-obsessed. While new and fun, each shoe is crafted by hand, preserving the best traditional techniques.

NEW PEOPLE is a 20,000 square foot contemporary building located at 1746 Post Street in San Francisco’s Japantown (one of only three remaining in the country), an area steeped in more than a century of history. The structure features a striking 3-floor transparent glass façade that invokes a fun and exotic new environment to engage the imagination for the 21st Century.

A dedicated NEW PEOPLE web site is also now available at:

(crossposted from NikoScream)

Yesterday, ANN announced the liquidation of Central Park Media anime licenses. Central Park Media was one of the oldest anime licensing companies in the States until declaring chapter 7 bankruptcy earlier this year. That’s the kind of bankruptcy you don’t come back from.

As such, I decided to list my top 5 CPM titles I would like to see saved. These titles range from mecha to shonen action to romantic comedy to, well, some stuff not for polite society. Some titles have already been saved and don’t need mentioning, like Slayers by FUNimation and Grave of the Fireflies from ADV (oops, mentioned them). I picked these based on already existing fan bases and importance to the fandom at large. These titles are not in order of importance. They’re in reverse alphabetical order because the last one works out well that way. Anyway, here we go.

Now here’s YuYu Hakusho the Movie: Poltergeist Report, where Yusuke and friends fight off forces from the neatherworld to protect the human and spirit worlds. Earlier this year, FUNimation finished releasing the YuYu Hakusho TV series in four box sets. Now would be a good time for FUNi to grab the movie and add it to their collection of YuYu titles. Maybe even replace the movie dub with the (in my opinion) superior TV dub cast.

Here we have Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer. The pervert Ataru and hot alien Lum and friends go through a trippy adventure that could only be brought to us by the likes of Mamoru Oshii, who wrote and directed the flick after simply directing the series and first film. Being the only Urusei Yatsura movie not licensed by AnimEigo (even though they did a lot of the work), this might be something for them to jump on.

Photon: The Idiot Adventures is a hilarious little six-episode OVA originally created by Masaki Kajishima, the creator of Tenchi Muyo, and features staff from several Tenchi projects.  It’s a wacky space comedy about the impossibly-strong-yet-simple-minded-boy Photon Earth who accidentally marries a space pilot. This show is not related to the Tenchi franchise, but really, who isn’t related to Tenchi these days?

Do you like giant robots? Do you like cop dramas? Well then, Patlabor The Mobile Police is for you. In a not-so-futuristic Japan (in the year 1999), where mechs called labors are used for a variety of tasks from construction and law enforcement, the crew of the Second Special Vehicles Division use their patlabors to keep the peace. CMP had the licenses to the OVA and TV series, whereas Bandai Entertainment (via their merger with Bandai Visual USA) has the movies. Back on the theme of completing franchises, perhaps this is a good chance of bringing together the franchise.

And for last…

Yes, La Blue Girl. Bible Black may have dethroned this title as the most currently notable hentai State side, but La Blue Girl is still one of the necessary titles one must see before claiming to have any knowledge about hentai or tentacle porn. Then there’s the live-action movie, which takes campy porn to a whole new level. Media Blasters still has its Kitty Media hentai line. This may be a perfect fit.

And now 5 notable mentions I’d like to see saved mostly because I haven’t seen enough of them:

  • Armored Troopers VOTOMS
  • Cyber City Oedo 808
  • Project A-Ko
  • Record of Loddess War
  • Revolutionary Girl Utena

That’s not everything I’d like, but they all top the list. What titles do you want to see saved?

I just downloaded the Tomica Hero Rescue Force Explosive Movie: Rescue the Mach Train! and i saw this awesome scene where Hiroshi finally took up the role of toku hero again. and i just wanted to show that^^
It has been a good 8 years since his last role in a Toku movie/series (last time he played a short cameo in Kamen Rider Agito: G4) its pretty awesome he`s still in good shape which is a good thing because he might be reprising his role again as R0 in Tomica Hero Rescue Force Fire this year and he`s definitly playing his old role as Kamen Rider Ichigo in Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders vs Great Shocker. ^^ PS: 0:59 notice the Doronjo crew copies there my god i wanted to say that ever since i saw the first episode XD
The real highlight of the movie for me ryukendo, ryuguno and Ryujino saluting to the Rescue force
The real highlight of the movie for me ryukendo, ryuguno and Ryujino saluting to the Rescue force

And here is the Kamen Rider Decade Press Conference video in which Hiroshi announced that he will be reprising his role as Kamen Rider #1.
Its also awesome that Tetsuo Kurata will be reprising his role of Kotaro minami/Kamen Rider Black RX in the movie which makes it all the bit harder to wait 8+ months XD
