I'm so sad that this may never get animated.

Soi Fon returns to strike back at the Quincy who stole her bankai, but these victories may be a bit too premature.

The Good

Who doesn't look cool dropping bullets?
Who doesn't look cool dropping bullets?

I don't know if Kubo has been reading my thoughts on what I'd love to see more of for this finale, or is this all just an extraordinary coincidence. Last week, I got to enjoy Hitsugaya and Matsumoto's playful banter. This week, I get to revel Soi Fon kicking ass, without even the threat of bubblegum. -- I really hope someone gets that reference -- Now, if we can only get to see Yoruichi's zanpakutō.

Soi Fon really doesn't get the screen time she deserves, but you could probably say that about half ofBLEACH's cast. I just love that she's this stealthy bad-ass who doesn't fall into the clichés we often see in women in fiction. For me, that makes her even more alluring. I was so thrilled to see her complete her Shunko, and the art in this chapter is really something special.

The Bad

You'd come off far more intimidating if you weren't skewered to the wall.
You'd come off far more intimidating if you weren't skewered to the wall.

The enemy hasn't even begun to fight yet. Who didn't see this coming? I just find it hard to believe that the captains are so careless to not press their advantage to finish off the enemy. Soi Fon not so much since she just showed up, but Hitsugaya surprises me. He got a single shot in, and he was all ready to move on. He should have run in through Bazz-B with his sword the moment he was pinned. In a war you shouldn't be spiking the ball at the three yard line.

Verdict 4/5

This is a great chapter with some exciting moments. I'm also an easy sell when Kubo highlights Soi Fon. It's the end that deflates the mood. We're led to believe that the 13 Court Guard stand a fighting chance, after the beating they previously took. However, theVandenreich aren't down yet. It's not that I don't understand the need for misdirection. I just wish Kubo had let us bask in the glory of a false victory for at least a week. Not every chapter needs to be a cliffhanger.

C'mon FoxxFireArt, I shouldn't have to remind you in every one of these articles that we are dealing with traditional shonen here. The enemy and the hero never fight at full power when it is convenient for the plot to drag on.

I too enjoyed Soi Fon's showcase, but I have a problem with her insinuating that if it wasn't for her bankai being stolen she wouldn't have been able to master the technique. Didn't her bankai get stolen like 2 hours ago?

Her Bankai got stolen nine days ago, remember Yhwach's little nursery rhymes?

Find this chapter meh, it the same thing Kubo always do (but I like the knight guy design)

"Her Bankai got stolen nine days ago, remember Yhwach's little nursery rhymes?"

Considering that she said in the FKT arc that she HATES to use her bankai. My question is, given her having said that, why was it the first thing she did when she fought a quincy was use her bankai is beyond me. And on a related note, I'm still unsatisfied with the explanation we get for why she doesn't use shunkou in FKT. I don't care if it's weaker than Yuroichi's, she wasn't fighting Yuroichi! Even incomplete, it still gave a huge boost to her speed and strength.

It because of a really stupid plan, the four Captains thought they can figure out how the quincys steal Bankai and counter it (somehow). It was a stupid plan, that make the characters look really dumb

I agree, she should have master Shunkou a long time ago. This arc show how lazy the Captains are, no wonder Aizen easily beat them

Sometimes I feel like Aizen and Urahara were the only competent captains. Looking at how the overall plot in Bleach has progressed since the beginning it really seems that way. In the beginning everyone from the lowest recruit to Captain Commander couldn't stop Ichigo from saving Rukia. Aizen had an excuse because that was his plan all along (of course).

@Lurkero:

Soi Fon really didn't care if her bankai was taken. At the time, the 13 Court Guard didn't know how the bankai was stolen. They needed to see it in action to figure out how to counter it.

Soi Fon mentions she completed her shunko after her fight with Yoruichi. Just having her bankai stolen served more as the reason to train and make shunko stronger.
