Black Smoke Dragon

Origin

Due to the consequence of overusing the Dragon Balls the negative energy that would normally disperse over time accumulated to such a degree that when the Z Fighters gathered the Dragon Balls to undo the damage caused by the portal to hell and Super 17, they found that the balls were cracked. Attempting to summon Shenron anyway but failing the first time, the Z Fighters continued to call out to him, and soon the Black Smoke Dragon emerged from the damaged Dragon Balls instead.

(note: many mistakenly associate this dragon with the Black Star Dragon Balls, at this point in the series the black star balls are inert, and the dragon that is associated to them while active is Ultimate Shenron)
