Welcome everyone to this week's Quick Picks! There are some changes for these articles from this point on. I used another source since ANN isn't reliable since I notice the Video Releases has things missing for the Releases page. I have to be careful not to rely on one source. For those who are new to these blogs, I'm listing these DVDs and Blu-Rays to promote the industry and get fans to support the industry with official releases than resorting to illegal, pirated sites. I'm not selling anything to you.
For this week, I'm looking forward to Robotics;Notes, it was a favorite Sci-Fi anime that Acura Max and I used to watch back in Fall 2012 anime season. It was a big wiki project for us. For recommendation on this series, it has a slow, slice of life build in the beginning until it hits a dark mood around episode 10 to 12. It's unexpected because it was about a group of students who want to build a giant robot. It started to revolve around rumors that was born from the incident that took place in the past. I can't spoil you guys any further.
I haven't tried any other anime on this list. I would love to hear your recommendations on these series. All comments are welcome. Thank you.
Black Jack: Set 1
Black Jack is an "unregistered" doctor with a clouded, mysterious past. He works with his little assistant Pinoko (who has a massive crush on the doctor), dealing with medical cases not very well known, which can be strange, dangerous, or not known at all. But he is a genius, and can save almost any of his patients' lives - as long as they have the money for it, that is.
Known to many around the world, especially to those of medicine and science, Black Jack's a man of science himself, and does not believe much until he has seen it. Yet it is many times he is surprised by love and nature often overpowering the science he bases his life in. Contains episodes 0-12.
Hidamari Sketch: Season 1 Collection (Blu-Ray)
Yuno has dreamed of attending Yamabuki Arts High School for years. But now that she's been accepted, there's the scary prospect of moving away from her home and family for the first time! Fortunately, Yuno quickly learns that, even if her new neighbors at the eclectic Hidamari Apartments aren't technically family, at least the majority share the bond of being fellow art students. Between second year students like Hiro and Sae, who try to behave like helpful older sisters, and Mako, her hyperactive new neighbor, classmate and best friend, Yuno will never find herself alone. And that's a good thing since she'll need a solid support network to deal with strange characters like her oddly masculine landlady, her cosplay obsessed home room teacher, her tooth-chattering principal and all of the other odd denizens who inhabit her chosen world of art. It won't be easy, and it won't always be pretty, but with her friends at her back, Yuno's going to reach for her sketchbook in HIDAMARI SKETCH!
Jormungand: Season 1 Collection (Blu-Ray / DVD Combo)
Jonah is a child soldier and the newest bodyguard for Koko, an international arms dealer with an entourage of hired guns. The cold-blooded kid hates Koko's line of work, but following her into the darkest corners of the black market might be the only way he can find those responsible for his family's slaughter.
Besides, his employer isn't like most merchants of death. She uses guile and cutthroat tactics to keep her clients armed to the teeth - all while cultivating her own warped plan for the future of world peace. With the CIA desperate for her capture, assassins eager to collect her head, and the potential for every contract to end in ultra-violence, Koko and her comrades in arms bring the boom to every corner of the world.
Jormungand: Season 2 Collection (Blu0Ray/ DVD Combo)
The child soldier Jonah continues to protect Koko while she brings the boom to cities across the globe. When the international arms dealer ramps up sales, her hired guns are targeted by government agencies, warmongers, and assassins-leading to some devastating betrayals and losses. Amid all the gunfire and grenades, Koko begins to work on a secret project in South Africa: Jormungand. But when she finally reveals her master plan for the future of war, not everyone is happy with the plot. As the body count starts to explode, Jonah will have to decide if he can stand by and watch his employer's blood-soaked plan for world peace unfold, or try to put a stop to it.
Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison
Naruto is convicted of a serious crime he didn't commit and is sent to the inescapable prison, Hozuki Castle. The warden, Mui, quickly seals away Naruto's chakra to prevent him from rebelling. Refusing to give up, Naruto plans his escape while also befriending his fellow inmates Ryuzetsu and Maroi. But he can't help but wonder what their ulterior motives are...
Robotics;Notes - Part 1
Kai and Aki dream of building a giant fighting robot based on a super-popular anime, but that's going to be impossible if they don't get more members into their school's Robot Research Club. They'll take anyone they can talk - or force - into joining them, including an eccentric robotics champion with a secret identity and a l33t video-game designer who's spent one too many late nights online. Finally, their goal looks like it's within reach. >> But when a sentient AI program tells Kai about mysterious documents hidden on the internet, things start to get strange for everyone. As the club members track down the secret messages, they realize that the information might be far bigger - and more dangerous - than they expected.
Time Bokan: Royal Revival
The Japanese public goes crazy when it's announced that the beloved and long running classic anime Time Bokan will be remade. There's just one problem: the original show was broken into multiple separate series featuring multiple teams of heroes pitted against multiple teams of almost identical villains, so how to choose which ones will star in the remake? Unwisely discarding the idea of a public opinion poll, the producers instead insanely opt for a race between the bad guys in their favorite mecha. Which might not be a completely bad idea, except for the fact that they're all cheaters and saboteurs, and none of them have ever created a mecha that didn't eventually self destruct in an extremely violent fashion! In a race between these born losers, the only winner is the audience as the villains from Time Bokan, Yatterman, Zenderman, Otasukeman, Yattodetaman, Ippatsuman and Itadakiman compete for the dubious privilege of getting the **** beaten out of them once again! It's Grand Theft Mecha Vs. Super Moron Kart as the baddies slam, bash and dirty trick each other to the finish in TIME BOKAN: ROYAL REVIVAL!
