Black Jack News

Black Jack is a franchise comprised of 4 anime series, 1 manga series

Welcome everyone to this week's Quick Picks! There are some changes for these articles from this point on. I used another source since ANN isn't reliable since I notice the Video Releases has things missing for the Releases page. I have to be careful not to rely on one source. For those who are new to these blogs, I'm listing these DVDs and Blu-Rays to promote the industry and get fans to support the industry with official releases than resorting to illegal, pirated sites. I'm not selling anything to you.

For this week, I'm looking forward to Robotics;Notes, it was a favorite Sci-Fi anime that Acura Max and I used to watch back in Fall 2012 anime season. It was a big wiki project for us. For recommendation on this series, it has a slow, slice of life build in the beginning until it hits a dark mood around episode 10 to 12. It's unexpected because it was about a group of students who want to build a giant robot. It started to revolve around rumors that was born from the incident that took place in the past. I can't spoil you guys any further.

I haven't tried any other anime on this list. I would love to hear your recommendations on these series. All comments are welcome. Thank you.

Yuno has dreamed of attending Yamabuki Arts High School for years. But now that she's been accepted, there's the scary prospect of moving away from her home and family for the first time! Fortunately, Yuno quickly learns that, even if her new neighbors at the eclectic Hidamari Apartments aren't technically family, at least the majority share the bond of being fellow art students. Between second year students like Hiro and Sae, who try to behave like helpful older sisters, and Mako, her hyperactive new neighbor, classmate and best friend, Yuno will never find herself alone. And that's a good thing since she'll need a solid support network to deal with strange characters like her oddly masculine landlady, her cosplay obsessed home room teacher, her tooth-chattering principal and all of the other odd denizens who inhabit her chosen world of art. It won't be easy, and it won't always be pretty, but with her friends at her back, Yuno's going to reach for her sketchbook in HIDAMARI SKETCH!

Besides, his employer isn't like most merchants of death. She uses guile and cutthroat tactics to keep her clients armed to the teeth - all while cultivating her own warped plan for the future of world peace. With the CIA desperate for her capture, assassins eager to collect her head, and the potential for every contract to end in ultra-violence, Koko and her comrades in arms bring the boom to every corner of the world.

But when she finally reveals her master plan for the future of war, not everyone is happy with the plot. Finally, their goal looks like it's within reach. >> But when a sentient AI program tells Kai about mysterious documents hidden on the internet, things start to get strange for everyone. As the club members track down the secret messages, they realize that the information might be far bigger - and more dangerous - than they expected.

Time Bokan: Royal Revival
  • Distributor: Sentai Filmworks
  • Suggested retail price: $29.98 (BD), $19.98 (DVD)

The Japanese public goes crazy when it's announced that the beloved and long running classic anime Time Bokan will be remade. There's just one problem: the original show was broken into multiple separate series featuring multiple teams of heroes pitted against multiple teams of almost identical villains, so how to choose which ones will star in the remake? Unwisely discarding the idea of a public opinion poll, the producers instead insanely opt for a race between the bad guys in their favorite mecha. Which might not be a completely bad idea, except for the fact that they're all cheaters and saboteurs, and none of them have ever created a mecha that didn't eventually self destruct in an extremely violent fashion! In a race between these born losers, the only winner is the audience as the villains from Time Bokan, Yatterman, Zenderman, Otasukeman, Yattodetaman, Ippatsuman and Itadakiman compete for the dubious privilege of getting the **** beaten out of them once again! It's Grand Theft Mecha Vs. Super Moron Kart as the baddies slam, bash and dirty trick each other to the finish in TIME BOKAN: ROYAL REVIVAL!

Title Synopses:

GLASS MAIDEN
In the near-future...

Lags Town is located in a corner of Asia symbolizing a negative side of false prosperity. A hard-boiled buddy story is staged in this town presenting spectacular gun-battles!

GLASS MAIDEN is a stylish and full-blown animation, and props and gadgets are depicted in meticulous detail whole through the story.

Having gone through 5 years of preparation, this original story is finally about to unfold...

CAT MAN
CAT MAN is a temperamental character with no time for other people. Living in the city, he lives a solitary life and doesn't bother himself with the rest of the world. In his stubbornness, he sticks to his own way of doing things, but can't seem to find any peace of mind.

"Always in pursuit of the greater good... to what end?" he murmurs to himself. He tries to be cool and in control, but he also wants to find deeper meaning in his life. Will CAT MAN ever find any rest for his troubled soul?

Sounds interesting even though I have never heard of either of the series, but hey free anime is free anime right? Can't beat that!

Ok, so maybe I've heard of Black Jack...but I've never read it.

This seems like another good amount of content for Crunchyroll, is there anyone who still won't watch content on even though it's legal and free now?
