A capable warrior and the only female present in the Hawk's ranks. She is Guts love interest.



A pre-ecplise member of the Hawks. He was fiercely loyal to Griffith, and also appeared to dislike Guts. He was sacrificed along with his fellow Hawks during the eclipse.

Emperor Ganishka

Ganishka is the Emperor of the Kushan empire and a powerful Apostle of the Godhand. Unlike the other Apostles he didn't follow Griffith after his rebirth, considering that the world is rightfully his.


She is the elf who accopanies Schierke. She has similar abilities to Puck with the difference that she is female.

Farnese Vandimion

Initially the Holy Iron Chain Knights leader, she now travel's with Guts and is learning magic under Schierke tutelage.


Adoptive father of Guts. He always blamed Guts for the death of his wife. Once when Gambino got angry with Guts, Guts fought back and accidently killed Gambino.


2nd in command of The Band of the Hawks raiders.


The Blacksmith who forged the Dragonslayer Sword and armor Guts wields. Guts stayed with Godo for a year after he left the Band of the Hawk to train.


The leader of the band of the Hawks and main villain of Berserk. After being Guts closest friend, he has betrayed him and joined the God Hand - the most powerful servants of evil in the setting.


He is an extremely strong apostle but honorable and shows respect to those he deems worthy, such as Guts and Zodd.

An Apostle that serves under Griffith and his newly reformed Band of the Hawk. Irvine excels in the art of ranged combat. As such, Irvine is one of the only members of the Hawk that is not dressed or armored like his peers.


He was once saved by Guts, he now follows him around to "study his sword technique". His wish is to be the greatest swordsmen, although in truth he is a much more accomplished thrower.


A young fishing girl who lives by the outskirts of the village on an island that is prison to the Sea God. She is shun by the people of her village because of her connection to the Merrow.


Jill is a little girl with a good heart who was unlucky to be born to an abusive father. She was a close friend with Rosine before she turned into Apostle.


One of the members of the band of the hawk that Griffith sacrificed.


A very proud apostle who would serve no one until he met Griffith. His full apostle form turns him into a metallic centaur.

A member of the hawks who wielded a mighty mace. He was sacrificed by Griffith at the Eclipse.

Princess Charlotte

The heir to the throne of Midland, however in recent times this title has become practically redundant. She is in love with Griffith.


Guts's pint size companion. Puck provides the comic relief to the dark world of Berserk.


An exile of the Kushan's. The reason for his joining the Hawks is to get a chance to cut off Griffiths "Pretty Head".


The only Hawk with the exceptions of Guts and Caska to survive the eclipse, as he was not travelling with the Hawks when the God-hand were summoned. He now works as a blacksmith.


A young female Apostle who sacrificed her parents to obtain the form of a winged elf.


A young witch who decided to follow Guts when her Master died. She is accompanied by an elf called Evarella.


He is loyal only to Farnese and is very skilled with the swords and probably the second most skilled human with a sword. With his cloak and sword he is able to command the element of wind.


The only female member of the God-Hand. She is known for being a Sado-Masachist.

Snake Baron

An apostle who was killed by Guts during the black swordsman arc.


One of the members of Griffith's newly reformed Band of the Hawk. She serves as the groups medium.

The Count

The second apostle Guts battles, he became one when he sacrificied his wife to the god-hand when he seen her taking part in a pagan orgy.

The King of Midland

The sovereign ruler of the Kingdom of Midland in Berserk

The Skull Knight

This Knight is the only reason that Guts and Caska survived the Ecilipse. He appears to be watching and guiding Guts constantly. He was also the previous owner of Guts' Berserker armour.



Wounded by the count, his only wish if for Guts to avenge him.



A brutal criminal employed as a soldier in extreme circumstances. He leads the Black Dog knights in Berserk.

Zodd Nosferatu

Zodd "The Immortal" is an apostle who has lived for many years and fought countless battles. Defeated by Griffith he now has replaced Guts in the New Hawks.
