Beelzebub and the gang have a New Years Special episode which is a parody on Journey to the West story.

Plot Summary

Opening Theme

"Only you -Kimi to no Kizuna-" by Lc5

Beel, Oga, and their group begin their show by wishing everyone, Happy New Year. In the desert, Furuichi struggle to walk while Oga tells him to press on to Tenjiku. Furuichi breaks the 4th wall by reminding them of the current story they are on. Oga replies that they have to do a special, and he beats him. Somehow, Furuichi notices he has a golden headband which is what Son Goku wear. Suddenly, MK5 and Queen appear in slutty attire before Oga.

Oga just beats MK5 and sends them flying into the sky. Furuichi fusses that he is Goku due to his headband. To his dismay, Oga uses Sanzou's power to make Furuichi feel like he got tased. He explains that if he did that to Beel, Beel would cry. (That's child abuse, too.) Furuichi throws it away, and Beel wears it. After Oga and Aoi compliment Oga, Aoi reminds Oga that they must get the sutra from Tenjiku, and Furuichi compliments Aoi on her stylish hat. When he asks Oga why they're here in this attire, Oga simply repeats the story of how he meet Beel. Out of nowhere, Alaindelon comes running for help in Hilda's maid attire. Oga tells Beel to attack him which reveals Kanzaki and Himekawa.

Aoi hides bald spot

The two are demon brothers who want to eat Sanzou's flesh to become immortal by using the gourd to transform him into yogurt after Aoi tells them no underage drinking. When the wind blows, Aoi's hat falls which reveals her bald spot. The two demon brothers fail to get them by a trance, and Oga just sends them flying with a drop kick. Yet, Oga forgets to ask them where Tenjiku. Meanwhile, Hilda laughs evilly while she waits for Sanzou. Oga and his gang arrive at a village, and he tells little Beel to investigate it with his cloud. When Furuichi asks Oga if Beel's 15 meter shock is still present, Beel shocks Oga like how thunder strikes a tree. After Furuichi leaves to check the village, Oga makes Aoi blush when she realizes she is alone with Oga and that Hilda is not there.

At the house, the gang learn it is a village of Shiroyama that the elder denies that everyone is related. Another Shiroyama comes in and warn them about bandits, and the elder tries to ask them to help their village. Somehow, Oga and Aoi go for a long walk after filling their stomachs. The usual Ishiyama delinquents are raiding the octopus patch, and after some introduction, Beel decides to use his stick to beat the bandits. However, Beel's stick tip over and extends the other way. Despite that little mistake, Beel tries again by multiplying himself to attack the bandits only to cry when he got from Oga. This results in a major thunder shock on the whole village.

King Tojou

Later on, Oga and his gang pick more people such as the six holy Knights (excluding Go), Lamia, and Red Tail until they arrive at the Ox King's place. Lord En's wet nurses greet everyone, and Lord En wants everyone to play Karuta after sharing jokes that did not make everyone laugh. As Yolda reads her card, everyone fights for the card, and Furuichi finds it before Lord En. As the brat cries, Lord En causes the whole castle to burn, so Oga and his gang go out to retrieve the magical fan. In the king's room, they find Toujou. Oga fails to blow out the flames until Toujou shows the real fan. Things end with everyone eating takoyaki.

After the credits, Hilda cries a bit since Beel did not arrive in Tenjiku.

• This episode is the first New Year Special episode.
• First scene for Happy New Year has Himekawa, Kanzaki, Hilda, Beel, Oga, Aoi, Furuichi, and Lamia in traditional Japanese clothing.
• Himekawa's scene of ranting about being a clumsy maid shows a girl who looks like Azusa Fujisaki.
• Namuamidabutsu is a common chant in Buddhism - Oga's drop kick scene.
• Cameos: Yople alien, demon pink tree thing, 3 of the Holy Knights excluding Go, Kaname, and Shizuka, Natsume
