Ikuto as resigned himself to life on this island for now and feels to need to earn his keep. He struggles to keep up with the girls who have lived their whole lives on this island. Those who don't work don't eat.
Ikuto is at the river washing his face. Suzu offers him a towel and goes to ready breakfast. Ikuto goes through the belonging he had in his bag, but the majority of them are of no use on this island.
Suzu goes to gather the water they will need for the next few days and Ikuto joins her. Ikuto struggles to hold the two buckets worth, Suzu holding one, as they return. He thinks how it must be hard for these girls on the island. Rin appears holding a giant barrel of water over her shoulder so casually.
Suzu explains that Rin is the strongest girl on the island. It's revealed that Ikuto is the type of person who hates losing to anyone. He suddenly grabs the bucket of water from Suzu in his mouth and spirits past Rin. He goes over board, runs past Suzu's house, trips, falls, and spills all the water. Rin follows with Suzu to see what happened to him.
Suzu feels a strange presence. She tosses a bucket at a tree and a shadowy figure leaps out. Suddenly, Ikuto is nearly hit with several shuriken that are thrown in his direction.
This time the girl wasn't Ayane. The girl looks upset. Ikuto thinks it's another girl after him, but she runs past him and clings to Rin. Her name is Mikoto and she's a carpenter like Rin. Seems she loves Rin a tad too much.
He feels ashamed that he expected Mikoto to be after him.
Mikoto thanks Ikuto for keeping other girls away from Rin. Her sweet personality switches to delinquent as she warns him not to touch Rin. Rin hears this and puts the hurt down on Mikoto with a kick to the head. Rin is able to hold up that giant weight of water still on one foot.
Later at the river, Suzu washes the shirts by stomping on then in the river rocks. Ikuto tries and falls in.
Suzu mops the floor at home and gets a nose bleed as she passes and he sees up her skirt.
He chops wood and it deflects off the wall to strike him in the head. He's tired, but starts to appreciate what it must take to live on this island.
Now that all the shore are done. It's time to go to work on the island. The day has only begun.
Everyone in town is working hard. Suzu's job is a jack of all trades. She assists anyone who is in need of help. A few girls call Suzu over to help pull up the sweet potatoes.
Ikuto thinks this is a job he can do. The girls try to tell him it's impossible to do alone, but he is stubborn and struggles to pull them from the ground. After a while, he loses and drops. Only now does he consent to help. They both pull and after a bit of struggle they yank up several sweet potatoes that look almost as large as they are. Suzu seems to think these are a big small today. Ikuto suddenly notices the girls all moving giant vegetables.
Suzu is given a sweet potatoes as her payment for the help. Another girls calls for help trimming her sheep. The sheep on this island look strange, like all the animals. They are walking round balls with dotted eyes.
Suzu tries to warn Ikuto to be very careful about trimming. If you hurt one they all attack, but this warning comes too late.
At the river, the two of them go fishing. Ikuto catches a rather large and scary looking red snapper. It looks like it has a dragons head and bites at Ikuto's rear.
They milk cows and one tackles him.
The days work seems over and they start to head home with their payment. They meet up with Chikage and Yukino. There is another job they have been waiting for Suzu to assist with.
Ikuto seems to comment on the strange looking duck Yukino is riding on.
They have gathered to help pick matsutake mushrooms. If they aren't picked today they can become too big.
The mushrooms they find are giant as well. About as tall as any of them. All the girls pick one out easily. Ikuto moves to pick the closest one to him, but the Yukino say he shouldn't try. He starts and struggles to move it. Suzu tells him it's impossible, but that only makes him try harder.
The one he is pulling is a fake matsutake. A mouth forms at the head and tries to swallow Ikuto. Suzu tries to pull him free. Chikage tests how far Ikuto can stretch. The plant wins, spits him out a second later, and dies.
The fake matsutake are like bees. One sting and they die. He looks in bad shape too from the poison.
The girls try to educate Ikuto on the differences between the real and fake matsutake. He tries to apply what is said, but he fails again and gets eat and spat out again.
Yukino suggest trying to use instinct. He tries, but fails at that. Eaten and spit out once again.
Chikage suggest that since he's been unable to pick a real one. He should try picking one that he thinks is the fake. He tries picking one he thinks is a fake. It is a fake and eats him.
The girls think it's impossible for him and say so. He hears this and pulls himself out of the fake matsutake. That phrase triggers him again. He starts to see his father face on all the matsutake around.
He rushes at the mushrooms and every single time picks the fake. Eventually there aren't even any mushrooms left. Now he admits that it's impossible. He picked every fake in the forest.
Chikage is amazed at the improbability of it all.
Ikuto wanders off alone as he feels useless. He sits alone and thinks how useless he feels around these girls who are so powerful. Rin is there and holding up a trunk segment from a tree easily.
Rin notices that Ikuto looks depressed. She remember something her mother said. If she can catch a man feeling down. That's the perfect time to strike and make him yours.
Rin tries to start a conversation and explain to him the deeper meaning behind why she calls him "danna"(casual term for husband). She gets too flustered and loses her words. She panics and forces his hand to grab her breast.
Touching her big, soft breasts triggers a huge nosebleed for Ikuto. Yukino arrives and wants to know what's going on. Rin says Yukino's ruined the mood. Suzu and Chikage arrive. They wonder why he has a nose bleed. He becomes bashful and tries to deny it.
Yukino tries to scold Rin for taking advantage when they weren't around. Rin notices the giant worms Kamo-Kamo was picking for it self. She screams and panics. She hate's squirmy things. Rin tells her to throw it away, but Yukino throws it at her. Kamo-Kamo following it's tossed meal.
Rin hides and cowers behind Ikuto. He grabs the worms and tosses them away. Kamo-Kamo running after them with Yukino still riding. Rin blushes and thanks him for saving her.
Ayane is still floating in the river and clinging to the Ikuto decoy from last episode.
Suzu is impressed how well he handled the worms. He explained that boys like bugs and stuff. Ikuto tells how impressed he is with her. With all her skills at helping everyone. He can't seem to return her favors.
She explains that he's already done enough. She's been alone for so long. She always felt envious how everyone else had someone to go home to or with. Now that he's there, she has someone to be with her in the house. Tonkatsu seems to be a bit offended at that. They gather the cart and head home.
After the ending theme, Ikuto worked so hard his muscles are sore. He can hardly move. He tries to force himself up, but seems to crack something and collapses.
