A Four-stringed musical instrument that works similarly to an electric guitar.It is based on the double bass.
The Bass Guitar is similar to an electric guitar except for that it has a longer neck and the strings are tuned to a lower octave that those of a regular guitar. In American culture it is stereotyped that bass players are more smooth or soulful in nature due to the lower and deeper sound of the strings. However in Anime a wide variety of characters play the bass, such as Mio from K-On who is rather uptight and book-smart, or Yoshiyuki Taira who hands out helpfull advice and is rather mature (despite the fact that he is based on real life Bass Guitar player, Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers who doesn't quite hold the same reputation).
