Used frequently in Anime to either recap past events or provide a back story for a character, either their origin story or their off-screen training of new attack. Sometime and entire episode/chapter would be a entire flashback.

Humans are typically depicted as the dominant species of the planet Earth, and sometimes of other planets. Humans often mirror their real life counterparts in terms of abilities and intellect, while other times they can achieve superhuman feats.

The collective Japanese publishers who release manga in Japan.

Kissing

Kissing is the act of pressing your lips to the body of another person. This can be on the cheeks, head, hand, but more commonly to another person's lips.

Love Confession

Telling someone you love them. It usually takes a lot of courage to say it.

Manga Artist

A Manga Artist is known in Japan as a manga-ka. Sometimes they work solo to create mangas, but they are also commonly known to have a staff who assist the lead artist.

Manga Assistants

Those who work under another Mangaka to help them get their series out on time. They do things such as draw in background work, finish inking in details on characters, and more. Many do it in order to break into the business, but some are professional assistants who only do that for a living.

Manga Iconography

Common visual conventions seen in manga and anime to convey emotions, often for comical effect.

Rivals

Rivals are competitor to someone. Unlike an enemy, rivals could have similar goals but disagree on the process.

Romantic Drama

Romantic Drama is a concept used in series to create tensions of highs and lows in order to leave the audience in suspense over an outcome in a romance based series.

Shyness

When one character has trouble expressing themselves and is very reserved. Usually used in Anime as an endearing quality.

Sh┼Źnen

Literally means "boy" in Japanese, but is also used to refer to Japan's biggest manga demographic: pre-teen and teenage boys.

Star Crossed Lovers

Are kept apart no matter how much they struggle and endure.

Team Fukuda

An unofficial group of mangaka who come together to support one another when each other is in trouble, yet still view each other as friendly rivals. They were joined by one idea, which was to change how manga is published and get rid of the rules they view as unfair.

Unrequited love

A passion or romance for a person where these feelings are not returned by the object of affection. A one-sided love.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated across much of the world on February 14th. The practice of the holiday is much different in Japan then in the Western parts of the world.

Voice Acting

The right voice actor can make or break an anime.
