Baki the Grappler or Grappler Baki(グラップラー刃牙) is a Manga and anime series created by Keusuke Itagaki. The anime aired in japan from January 8,2001 to June 15,2001. the story revolves around Baki Hana as he trains to become more powerful, and defeat his father Yujiro Hanma/The King.
Baki Hanma is the youngest martial artist to enter an underground free-for-all fighting tournament. Based on Keisuke Itagaki's long-running 1991 manga in Sho-nen Champion, whose actual plot was Baki's quest to find who genuinely is the strongest person on the planet. His quest takes him to gangsters, biker gangs, and mercenaries.The story was brought back for a 2001 TV series, directed by Hitoshi Nanba, beginning with a 13-year-old Baki fighting a hundred men at once, but only beating 37 of them. He trains at a number of martial arts, hoping to eventually become the best of the best, so that he can beat Yujiro Kurama, who is his father. The TV series adds extra material not in the manga, particularly concerning Baki's relationship with his mother, Emi, who keeps on finding new trainers to teach her son how to kick ass. A second television series, Grappler Baki: Maximum Tournament (Grappler Baki: Saidai Tournament; also 2001) followed the first.
